Trend of Poor Experience at Biryani Cart

I'm not talking about the food, that's still great. I'm talking about service. Pushy and rude customers (usually countrymen from my part of the world, Indians and Pakistanis) coupled with witless order takers who have to constantly keep retaking everyone's orders and still mess it up. I go at 11:30/11:45am when there's only a few people lined up.

I think I might be done with these guys until they get their act together.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Me too, Jill. Meru was actually out of the country for a couple of months and has just returned. I didn't notice a slip while he was gone but, if there was any, I'm sure he'll bring things back up to speed.

I've pretty much given up on the Biryani Cart. The last time I got the combo kebab it tasted like they'd scraped the bottom of their grill and served it over rice.

Had a pretty bad experience with them last year:

First and last time ever eating their food.

Bad service, I can sort of deal with if the food is good enough, but raw chicken and cold (possibly raw) gyro meat is sort of a deal breaker for me.

Even if Meru wasn't there, that's no excuse for this kind of performance. When kids are bad, you blame the parents. Naturally, the onus is on Meru. He no longer cares about his product and instead just rides on that now undeserved Vendy's People's Choice Award.

  4. And make sure to ask for your change. It's clear on the menu that the rice/meat combos are $5.50 but if you hand over $6.00, especially at the cart that doesn't serve the kati rolls, they won't give you the 50 cents back unless you ask for it. They lie about the prices so they can pocket the money. I've been going there for a couple of years now, so to be treated like that now all of a sudden is a turnoff. Shady.
