Miss the rolls, but haven't been back since June because of the awful service and horrible order taking. Found the experience to be one of diminishing returns. Am hoping wintry weather will be an ally in driving away the masses.

Funny -- I can't say I've noticed a decline recently, though I usually get lunch in the 2 o'clock hour, when the crowds are lesser.
I have noticed that the Sandwich Land lady seems to have disappeared, which is an upgrade for the Biryani Cart experience given her practice of yelling "next please" even when there wasn't a single customer in front of her cart.
-
She was there today. Her cart is actually Meru's, to try and help alleviate some of the stress by offering chicken & rice and the other "normal" versions that used to be sold on the Biryani Cart.
As I said, I went there early when there only 2 people ahead of me... I waited 20 minutes to get my food.
-
I gave up on them a couple of months ago, I love Meru, but the rest of them can go scratch
-
Geez, with the price hike now this has to be a done deal...
-
whoops, the price hike is on Kwik Meal not Biryani :$
sorry about that...

Yeah. I still go, just not between 1215 and 130 or so. I'm not sure what it is about Biryani Cart that makes it so bad, but other high-volume carts like famous halal guys don't seem to get this problem.
It might not be so bad if they got one of the guys to be a line-herder.

I haven't noticed a drastic increase in wait times, but unless Meru is working, my order (chicken chennai roll / lamb buradi) is incorrect about half the time. Whatever I end up with is usually tasty, but since few customers specify their desired roll, or even meat - with at least eight possible combinations, what do you receive if you simply ask for "kati rolls"? - I'm left guessing which orders are mine.
Sadly, there's little incentive for them to spend time and manpower streamlining their ordering process since even with the mistakes, the line stretches down the block.
Oh, and: NEXT PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE
-
I like the food but agree the order taking is a mess... If i pass by around 1 or so... its just a crowd of people aimlessly standing around... no clue who ordered, whose online to order, or whose just standing around with their thumb up their asses.
-
This is not new. Trying to order at Biryani Cart has been a horrible mess for a couple years now at least. It's not worth the long wait and the chaos. And I like Kati Roll better anyway (if I'm not starving).
I don't blame the customers for being pushy and rude. When there is no line and no system in place, how else are people supposed to get themselves fed?
It's funny because the first time you go, you're like, "Wow these guys are amazing. They're keeping all these orders and customers in their HEADS. That is so cool." Then you realize that they have no fucking clue who ordered what when and don't give a shit.
-
like others, i just stopped going because of the hassle online and constant wrong order/ordering and finding out 10 minutes later they're out of whatever i ordered.
-
The reason the Famous guys go so smoothly is because
A) The menu is small & simple (and my favorite - I'm not bashing)
B) All of the guys hustle
C) A true line is formed, thus keeping the crowd orderly. I really do hate the carts / trucks which everyone stands in a semi-circle and no one knows who has ordered yet, etc. They take many orders at once and I always worry if I got the right one.I've had many orders from Biryani & others, screwed up. Usually a white / hot sauce issue moreso.
Knib High Football Rules.

never had a problem with wrong orders or surly service. They've always been very nice and my wait isn't any longer than I expected it to be. I'm a big Biryani Cart fan.

I'm not talking about the food, that's still great. I'm talking about service. Pushy and rude customers (usually countrymen from my part of the world, Indians and Pakistanis) coupled with witless order takers who have to constantly keep retaking everyone's orders and still mess it up. I go at 11:30/11:45am when there's only a few people lined up.
I think I might be done with these guys until they get their act together.
Does anyone else have this problem?
