The Twitter Tracker

Broccoli Rob

The twittwer tracker is a great idea, but it is rendered nearly useless by vendors who tweet 50 times per hour. All we need are the truck locations and perhaps some specials! Must I wade through a hundred banal tweets by the Waffle Truck, and every thought that passes through the brain of the Cupcake Stop people just to find out where Taim Mobile is???

i feel the same way but hey it comes with the terriory you cant expect them to have a manual service that selects out each individual tweet.

I want BrocRabe all of a sudden, strange

  2. I agree with Broccoli.

I agree also, the first page is useless usually. I always have to go to the archive. It would be nice if the vendors had one feed for locations/specials and another for twitterrhea.

Or how about if the first page of the twitter tracker had just the latest tweet from each of the feeds you follow.

as far as waffles dinges their first tweet is locations. The other 50 are useless banter, so you have to scroll all the way down for the first tweet of the day.

  6. Twitters (twitidiots) need to know I eat where I can find you; if you load up feed with nonsense I eat at the next one that interests me - and has a location in their twit.

I think if they just removed the Waffle Truck from the tracker, it would go a long way towards making it readable. Cupcake Stop- you're next!

  8. I'd definitely be in favor of banishing the waffle truck from the TT in the name of readability. I don't need to see 50 retweets from them every day, they just clog up the TT

I'm pretty sure there are apps that cull Twitter feeds to plot them on maps so you don't actually see their feed. I'm positive there is one that was used at SXSW or whatever. I don't remember the name offhand.

It might be a decent idea to simply inform any trucks/carts/restaurants that wish to be included on Midtown Lunch to open a new twitter account reserved for nothing but their location and business hours for each day. Then ML can just track those feeds. This would take 5 seconds per day for each business and cost them ZERO. In return, they would have all our eyes on their location every day.

We're working on a solution to this (along with a bunch of other great changes!) Stay tuned...

    Broccoli Rob - right on!

    I agree.

I agree that the idea was a good one...but just doesn't work. I even got so fed up I tried to find truck-location apps and websites, but they all suck too.
It gets so frustrating playing "Where in the World is Waldo" with my belly rumbling.

    problems with the twitter tracker:
    - not all trucks are on twitter
    - not all trucks tweet their location early enough. Tweet right after you park.
    - some trucks tweet too much. Seriously.

With the explosion of GREAT trucks rolling through midtown, but with them roving around with no set locations..it is so hard to find some trucks. I just want a list every day! A map with truck's locations would be even better. :-)

no offense to @MalaysiaKitchen but are they relevant for the twitter tracker? Maybe ML needs a truck tracker and a general food tracker.....there are social media mobile apps emerging for truck tracking so it's not something completely new slash unheard of....
