The Hottest Pepper in the World

Goats

As a humongous fan of all things food, it is no surprise Man V Food is my favorite show-bar none. In tribute, I ordered a bottle of ghost chili extract--made from the ghost chili, which is the hottest pepper in the world. I just sampled a drop and 30 min later, am still sweating profusely. If anyone has any recipe ideas, other than chili, please suggest them! I think I will bring the bottle to the next happy hr., to add to the fun!

Since it's in a bottle, I am semi-safe....at least from burning my skin. The rest of my body is up for punishment though....especially my mouth---and I haven't even considered how it's going to escape me yet! Not to say!

Naga Morich – the Serpent Chilli from Bangladesh recently tested at a mouth-blistering 1.5 million ScU!

And if you think the hottest habenero is about 500k scU.

    Extract is chemically refined capsiasin.

I know, rather informative for me.

Thanks for the info Rudy! According to wikipedia, that's what I got== Naga Morich aka naga jolokia. I've done habanero many times, which is bad in itself, but ghost chili is definitely worse! WAAAAY worse.

OK I'm going to tivo Man V Food, have seen commercials but so far never saw the show. by the way, I wondered why they called it "ghost chili" and from MSNBC,

"Around here, in the hills of northeastern India, it’s called the “bhut jolokia” — the “ghost chili.” Anyone who has tried it, they say, could end up an apparition."

hahaha I found a recipe here for Thai Beef with Basil stirfry. The chef's comments are cracking me up...

"Chuck (Norris) eats his beef and basil with the Indian Ghost chili. Three of them in fact."

i think bhut refers to bhutan, where the ghost chili may have originated prior to the super hot cultivar.

extract is *mostly* the capsaicin right? i mean there has to be some flavor compounds that distinguish this from sauces derived from other peppers. otherwise what's the point? let's just spray mace on our chicken...
