I'm making the turkey, cranberry sauce, and giblet gravy. I'm leaving it up to the rest of the fams to make the sides, but here is my guess at what's coming:
sweet potatoes with marshmallows
this ridiculous stuffing (dressing) that has mashed potatoes in it
roasted brussels sprouts with bacon
roasted butternut squash with pancetta and garlic, glazed slightly with maple syrup
mac & cheese
a lot of other green veggies
ham dripping with this syrupy sweet glaze
deviled eggs
cruditesProbably a lot like this

Yvo, I know you missed me for stew leonards, but max and I insist on coming over and sharing your feast! Cruel pics! VERY CRUEL!

I thought I got lucky this year when my younger brother offered to cook which would be the first time I wasn't the cook since I was about 16 but now I have to go to my girlfriends mom's then her grandmother's and then and only then can I go to my mom's and get drunk with my brother's :o(

Goats, I can't even bring my own dog to my sister's, so unfortunately, Max cannot come. You're going to have to find a single Sin to snag an invite though... we do welcome significant others (will wife understand the need to feed? lol)

DAMN THIS CLOCK THING I just glanced at the time on my post and was like oh sh*t it's time to leave and almost jumped up to run out and catch my bus ahem.
D, that's one reason to offer to cook... "I can't go with you to your family's, I'm making the turkey" --- not that this is why I'm making the turkey.

Mean! Mean not to include dogs! My parents are mean too! They were going to force max to sit downstairs! That is why my g/f is staying in town --to have thanksgiving with her mother and max!

I always make (most of) Thanksgiving Dinner/Feast because I'm a control freak in the kitchen. The menu:
Turkey wrapped in bacon
Hams
Roasted brussels sprouts
Roasted sweet potatoes
Mashed potatoes with roasted garlic and creamed spinach
Garlic Bread
Corn
Peas
Apple Pie
Sausage and sage dressing/stuffing
Gravy
Cranberry Sauce
Roasted vegetables
Some kind of pasta -
every woman(or man) has a right to be a control freak in your own kitchen.

Well, this year the feast at my sister's house. I'm sure I'll be taking over her kitchen as well.
-
How would you do a turkey wrapped in bacon? A roulade? Or just wrap the entire bird in bacon?
-
I like how it's plural hams. And yeah, I'm making the turkey in my kitchen at home and lugging the stupid thing to my sister's house. I know my oven much better than I know hers and it just works out better if no one is in the kitchen because someone opens the oven door when they aren't meant to, I am likely to rip heads off. Besides my brother-in-law is cooking most of the other stuff and we get along, no need to bring that to a head...
Goats - it's my sister's house, my mom wouldn't object to me bringing my dog over. Sister has two little ones and she has never had a dog (or cat) so she has less understanding of what it's like to have a pet and have to leave that pet alone at home on a major holiday etc. She just doesn't really grasp that my baby is part of my family... and she is cleaner than many children.
-
Max is cleaner than most kids as well--aside from the self cleaning she employs at times....

It has nothing to do with Midtown lunch but at least it's food related.
I am hosting a thanksgiving dinner this year and I got all my recipes from Epicurious.com.
Will be making, porcini mushroom turkey with mushroom gravy, leek and wild mushroom stuffing, roasted brussel sprouts with toasted pine nuts, roasted broccoli with toated panko, roasted rosemary potato, cranberry sauce with port and tangerine, bacon wrapped dates, maple pecan pie...
What is your menu?
