My husband always requests spicy and hearty Korean stew/soup whenever he gets sick. maybe you can pick up some stew or soup from a close by korean restaurants or take out places. Yuk ge jang(spicy) and gom tang from gam mi oak both sound delicious.

Manflu sucks. stay strong brother!

There's a chinese restaurant off of the path a couple of blocks up on washington in Hoboken, on the left hand side of the street. Great Wall? Off the Wall? It's been a while since I've lived there. I always enjoyed their soups when I was sick....hot and sour especially. Cleared me right up....

Sichuan beef brisket noodle soup from Szechuan Gourmet on 39th btwn 5th and 6th.

:(
I don't go to Hobo-Ken....ever.
Go with Eataly....or find some place where you can get a take-out soup the size of your head. Matzo ball soup?

In Hoboken there is a Garden of Eden on 2nd and Washington (facing north left side) about 2 or 3 blocks north of PATH station. They have a pay by the pound hot buffet, usually some hot soups/stews and other microwavable prepared soups. Washington St. also has a ton of chinese places, a malaysian and a thai place to pick up a quart of hot soups or noodle soups.

mkim, this is a solid option, also THANK you for telling me the names of the dishes-- I'm a Korean food novice
I'm shying away from any of the takeout places on Washington b/c all this boy has been eating since Saturday is takeout chinese soups, but if all else fails I might do that Malaysian place on Washington and 1st OR hit up Garden of Eden.
And, Cheeeeeeeeese I might be scared of Eataly...
AND I never want to go to Hoboken... sighalso, Wellerfan, thank you for your words of encouragement, I'll pass them along

If you order Malaysian, get him a Udang Mee/ Prawn Mee/ whatever they call their version of the spicy noodle soup with shrimp/prawn. Have them make it extra spicy too if he can handle it. That sucker will knock him back on his feet. lol. MmmMmm spicy red-orange broth FTW!

Two Papaya Dogs served by Sarah in thigh-highs, push-up bra and a tiara.
Not only will he suddenly recover, but afterwards you'll be the one needing a lie-in for a few days
-
he ended up wanting Malaysian from the place in Hoboken and is was unsatisfactory as usual. I should have insisted on Korean stew, or any of the other, far better options (including Wayne's ;) ) but instead... meh
-
what ever happened to good ol' chicken noodle.
-
Unsatisfactory? What youse get 'em for Malaysian?
-
he didn't want chicken noodle! Insanity! I got him a curried seafood noodle soup from the Malaysian place and he liked it. I was just more 'meh' on my food, bc its all about me. I think their coconut curries are too sweet, and this time I tried nasi goreng and it was just boring fried rice. No basil, no nothing. I had to drown it in soy sauce for it to taste like anything at ALL.

I have to go to Hoboken tonight and nurse my sick boyfriend back to health, and I need to bring something to feed him that will restore his strength.
He eats meat. all of it.
Has requested 'something soupy or stewy... something hearty' but that's as much detail as I've gotten.
I have to be able to pick it up AFTER 6:30 tonight
I would love for this takeout to be either somewhere in the vicinity of Herald Square, or somewhere nearby the PATH stops (I'm looking at you, Cheeeeeeeeeese) that means basically around 6th ave and either 33rd, 23rd, 14th or 9th.
I was thinking... Eataly maybe? is that going to be a million dollars? Jefferson Market? (That WILL be a million dollars) I could even maybe to a Hale and Hearty or a Citarella....
Help me Midtown Lunchers, you're my only hope
