Tried the torta a few weeks ago, and it is delicious and filling, but after reading the comments, i think i expected it to be bigger or something, I'd say its equally as filling as a hearty bacon egg n cheese or a standard philly cheesesteak
Definitely recommend the torta cubano
Thanks for the headsup HT -
I wonder if the size is cart dependent. The one I had was from the 56th street cart. Granted, I hadn't eaten in over 12 hours so maybe that accounts for it registering as more of a gutbomb.

It was quite a large sandwich - far more stuffed than the regular tortas - at the 53rd/Bway cart. Independent confirmation via others in the office tells me it's rather a lot of sandwich.

size wise, yes, its not much bigger than your run of the mill sandwich (it is on a regular roll). its the weight of it that really surprised me when she first handed it to me. its a lot of sandwich in a "smallish" package.

I've been slowly eating my way through the Tacos y Quesadillas Mexico cart(s) menu. Last night, I ordered the "Torta Cubana" On the cart is a picture of a typical cuban sandwich...what I got was anything but typical.
Its basically the Mexican version of a garbage plate on torta bread. It had ham, carnitas (rotisserie pork), al pastor (roast pork), Cecina (salted beef), chorizo, a FRIED EGG, beans and all the usual torta toppings. It was crazy!
At $8 I think its the most expensive item on the menu....but if you want a crazy gutbomb of a sandwich I say go for it.
Anyone else had this monster? Thoughts?
