Personally, I like the sombrero cart. It's not Mexican food, but it's tasty. It's like if tacobell were to open a streetcart (and frankly, that sounds like a good idea to me).
I usually get the taco salad (which is basically nachos, but more meat and salad than chips).

Wow, a 2006 post, bustin out the archives! Looks like I'll skip it. Thanks!

@wellerfan - try it once with no expectations. $6 for a burrito (marinated chicken or ground beef) with rice and beans, $7 for a taco salad. Food coma shortly thereafter.
Think of all the generic Mexican places in the city, and now think of those crammed into a street cart. At the very least, the Sombrero husband and wife team are super nice.

ok, I guess it cant be all bad

I like generic mexican (taco bell, those asian run mexican places around town, etc.)
I work a block from the big sombrero cart on 50. I tried it one day and could not eat more than a few bites of my burrito. I found it to have a really foul metallic taste and I chucked it. I guess I should try it again, but it was pretty bad and Daisy Mae is right there next to it....

@Mike - Weird, never had an off-flavor from the Sombrero folk, and I'm a once-a-weeker.

Maybe it's me. I'll have to give them another shot.

Try not to eat the foil this time.

I was walking down 6th between 55th towards 50th on Wed and noticed a cart with a huge sombraro on it. I cant remember which street it was, it was between 6th & 7th though. I'm assuming its some kind of taco cart? I couldnt find it yesterday when I went back.
