not sure about cinnamon buns in particular (unless you count cinnabon), but financier patisserie on 54th & 1st is great, w/ good coffee. Gulogulu (sp) on 52nd and 2nd is a decent choice for Turkish treats. Buttercup is across the street.

I've been to Gulluoglu (however that's spelled!) and found their baklava to be a little too dense - as well as expensive. Buttercup's banana pudding is really really good. Never been to Financier, but will give it a try.

Financier is a great pastry place..no buns as you ask for but lots of other great items. Here is my post on them from my blog:

I have never had a bad item here!! :)

I love pastries and desserts - especially for breakfast, with a cup of hot tea. Anyone know where I can get a good fresh cinnamon bun in MT East (anywhere east of Park and between 45th and 55th)?
Also, has anyone ever had a good pastry from the streetcarts that sell coffee and pastries in the morning? I've tried some of them (cherry danish, pound cake, cranberry muffin) from various carts and they were all pretty bad.
