YEP, totally recognized him and admittedly I am hooked on Omar's! It's good and fresh!

Omar's Kitchen and Bakery opened two days ago. They are on 55th between Lex and 3rd. It's a few doors away from the former Kanaat space.
They are serving halal / falafel / mediterranean type food in the front. In the back, they have a bakery.
Some of you will recognize Omar from Gourmet 53 - aka Cowgirl Catering (Lunch'er Denise I'm talking to you!). He also has one of his well known employees behind the counter.
Unlike what Omar did for bringing salads to the masses by keeping low prices and adding free goodies, this is definitely a smaller operation. The sandwiches are about $6.50. The platter that I got was about $9.00.
Their fluorescent orange homemade hot sauce is decent and filled with seeds.
Unfortunately, the baked goods appear to be geared towards the American palate.
