Spiciest Restaurant

hungry

What and where is the spiciest restaurant in NYC? And do they offer gift certificates?

I'm trying to be a good birthday gift giver. Birthday boy can handle his spice. But, I want to blow his socks off!

I'm good with heat, and the phaal was a challenge that I lost.

If you want to do go with the phaal, then I suggest that you eat it straight without any rice. Rice was my downfall...

I finished all the lamb in the phall, and had maybe a half cup of sauce. I could have knocked those back with a few tablespoons, but for some reason I thought I could cut the heat by adding all my rice into it. All that did was increase the volume and did nothing to affect the heat. Now I had like a cup's worth of heat instead of just a few big tablespoons. I gave up with about a half cup of phaal-y rice...

I'll admit that I lost the phaal challenge, but i know I could have beaten it if I didn't make that mistake.

Oh, also, wash it down with lassi. It does an amazing job of killing the heat.

if heat is your only concern... i guess you could listen to everyone here.

but if you want some FLAAAAVAAAA then hit up any thai restaurant and ask for "extra extra extra spicy." it won't be as hot (coasting on the lower end of the habanero range) but at least it'll taste better than the phaal.

you could also go to Sigiri and order everything "hot."

    Brick Lane, for sure!

Might as well just drink bottles of hot sauce. :P

birthday boy will be re-thinking his spice tolerance after he tries the seppuku wings at buffalo cantina in williamsburg. Yes, I know it's not in manhattan, but this is seriously the spiciest thing I've ever had in my life. Phaal curry was WEAK compared to this.

Adam--how was it the next day? (seriously!) I hit up Brick Lane for lunch last week (buffet for $10-11 or so). It was really good. Nothing super-spicy, but very tasty. I went to the one near Astor Place.
