I'm on the lookout, too. They're nice people. She has immediate family in Ecuador and took a long trip back home some years ago. That might explain part of it, but just a hunch.
-
your loss 54th street's gain. try madison @ 54th.
-
Say it ain't so, Joe! (Or bnrut.) I guess I'll take a walk today. I was hoping it might be temporary due to construction equipment near their spot on 50th, but the smoothie truck to one side and Daisy May to the other haven't budged.
-
Did you ask the smoothie truck or daisy mae's?
I might have the phone number for the folks from the sombrero cart, but I got it from them in 2005.
-
Okay, I do not have the number. What I wrote down was the name of their brother's restaurant where they prepare their food:
Carne De Calle - Giovannis Pizza 47 12 48ave Sunnyside
-
All's well -- I talked to them on their new corner, which they told me was their original corner. They moved back to avoid a lot of the aggravation from being where they were. Same food, longer walk.
-
Dave, what was their original corner?
-
54th/Madison, NE corner, as bnrut mentioned. Can't miss 'em.
-
It's back on 50th Street south side, near Sixth Ave. outside 1251 Ave. of Americas.
Said they "were on vacation." -
Oh for Pete's sake. I walked by the 54th St location Monday, and again on Tuesday, trying to locate them. I hope they aren't going to make a quarterly move from now on...
-
Cool, I hope they are there tomorrow. 54th and Madison was too far for me.
-
I went there today (yum) and they said they will be staying on 50th.
-
Went by today. Didn't see the sign till after I'd ordered, but they now offer chili. Anyone want to give it a shot and report back?

I haven't seen them around 50th St. since before President's Day. Anyone know if they're on extended vacation, whether voluntary or otherwise? Or if they pulled up stakes and headed elsewhere?
