I think MadJac has mentioned La Esquina.

I'm not exactly sure of your location, so some of these might be a little too far, but here's some ideas for you:
Jubilee Market, Acquedolci, Cafe Duke, La Nueva Conquista, Hoomoos Asli, DiPalo, Alleva, West Side Coffe Shop, Sea World, Saluggi's Pizza, Pinche Taqueria
-
The two times I had Saluggi's were through delivery (huge orders, so quality suffered). Some pies were a bit salty and runny but I'd put the perfect ones up there with the "top" places in New York. Solid recommendation.
BTW, had the cactus/chorizo and tongue tacos at La Esquina today and they were on point minus the single-layering of tortilla. I still don't know how Cali does it but it still doesn't quite taste the same over here... (closest I've come to is Country Boys/Martinez Truck in Red Hook)

Tiny's sandwich shop and Pinche over La Esquina, NY Noodletown and I always liked Wah Fung #1 Fast Food on Chrystie bc you can't beat roast pork over rice for like $2.50

So, I'm currently situated in SoHo (technically, the workplace is on the verge of Chinatown) and all I've found so far that can accommodate my ridiculously tight 30 minute lunch break is ... McDonalds.
In other words, I'm sick of packing lunch. HELP
Hard Mode: No Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai food.
K thx.
Bonus question: Has anyone been to La Esquina for tacos/burritos? How was it?
