Hi deanlo, No! You are not being impatient.
In my opinion, this delay and ignoring your questions are absolutely unacceptable. I have been selling on ebay for probably 6 years now, and while it's up to the seller whether or not to contact the successful bidder, it's just good form to send an email after the auction congratulating the bidder and letting them know that they've received the payment. When you make your payment, an email goes to the seller immediately, and there is no need for them to wait for the payment to be processed to contact you. I think it's poor customer service and is not the way I would want to be treated, particularly when I believe this was a very expensive item - $600 if memory serves. Finally, based on what you wrote, I assume that you are a very prompt payer and that should be appreciated, not ignored.

I have no idea what item you are talking about that you won (congratulations, from the title it sounds cool), but I agree with Cosilicious. All questions before bidding should be answered.
PS I was just looking at cooking classes that mentioned Saveur... weird.

Yvo, he's talking about the cooking class that was one of the items for auction on ebay that ran during the Vendy's, to support the Street Vendor Project. http://midtownlunch.com/2009/09/23/win-a-midtown-lunch-walking-tour-to-benefit-the-street-vendor-project/ Zach's midtown lunch walking tour was one of them, as was the Ed Levine tour. I was following the cooking class auction just because it looked interesting and noticed that someone had bid on it.

Thanks. I thought I was being unreasonably paranoid. I guess I'll wait until Monday to call SVP/Saveur directly.
Even though I'm a Gen X-r and all innernitsavvy, I never really went for email confirmations. Live interaction is always better.
Thanks!

any update? Just curious

yes they got back to me a little after this post. sean basinski (SVP) was out in Nicaragua at a street vendor conference. sounds like he's got an awesome albeit a physically and mentally taxing job.
Opened up a dialogue with the asst editor and asst kitchen director last tuesday and now in the midst of voting on a cuisine that we'd like to cook.
Looking at November 4th. suuuuper stoked

These people (SVP, Saveur, deuteronomie) have not answered my emails... PayPal says the payment should have been fully processed by yesterday. I emailed them twice -- once 5 days ago and once earlier today.
Am I just being impatient?
Also, anyone know if they do weekends? I asked them this prior to bidding but didn't get a response. (lol go figure)
