Royal Grill Food Cart

I was walking down 44th St., one block from Times Square and someone called out to me to try a chicken kabob sample. It was great and I decided to try a meal. Md, the owner of Royal Grill and his team have created a really great value for really great food. I had the chicken biryani and it was delicious. I would recommend coming to this cart over others because the service is excellent and the food can't be beat for the price! http://royalgrillfood.com

  1. "Chicken kabob & chicken biryani" sounds very delicious. And the way you describes this dish I want to try this as soon as possible. Is there specific timings they serve this dish on their cart. Please let me know.

  2. You're kidding right? Can you at least be honest and just say you own the cart and would like some patronage. Try offering anyone who mentions Midtown Lunch a free drink or a couple of dollars off their purchase. It's more effective than being a shill.

Yes please provide specific timings and such.

Its obvious internet shills (er... marketers) were not English majors. But then again I love when owners and their team create really great value for really great food. Perhaps I should go try a meal.

  5. I went here today for lunch with 4 coworkers, because we were amused by the shameless marketing techniques used by the original poster (I'm looking at you, David Carus of Expanding Marketing). I had very low expectations.

However, I was really pleased with the food I got. The chicken was all very flavorful and well seasoned, and the onions and peppers on the grill were a nice touch. I thought the rice, which was flavored with fennel seed, was great, but some people may not be into it as much. The lamb was just standard chopped up gyro meat. The white sauce was surprisingly flavorful and worked well with the cucumber side salad. The hot sauces (he put a red and a green one on) had good flavor but not much heat. Finally, the people who run the cart (possibly a husband/wife team) were incredibly nice and generous with free samples.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable lunch, and I think my coworkers and I will be adding it to our regular rotation (along with Kwik Meal, Trini Paki, and Little Morocco - if it ever returns). I also definitely think that Royal Grill should be included in SMP5, although I imagine that it will be one of those carts that half love and half hate because of its slightly different flavors.

  6. How do we know mvmn206 isn't just a meta-shill?

  7. I created this account just to post that while there might be a ton of shills in here, the guys food cart is legit. I got a combo platter. It was enormous. The chicken was tandoori style (had that red color), his lamb was like kebabish. It wasn't tiny and charred, it was awesome. I asked for extra spicy, I got that green chili sauce and a little red sauce. Still wasn't too spicy (but then for me nothing is). The rice was clumpy, but that wasn't a bad thing, it still tasted like rice (shocker).

The guy himself was also really nice, asked me where I worked, asked me to bring some friends, and gave me a bunch of those "rewards card" things and tossed me a free soda. I would say it ties for my favorite cart along with Trini Paki.

  8. uh oh, looks like another "meta-shill" to me...

but seriously, that sounds exactly like my first experience at the cart. i got the chicken (tandoori style) over rice the other day and asked for it extra spicy. he gave me the red sauce, the green chile sauce, and then asked if i also wanted pickled jalapenos. of course, i accepted, and i think i liked the whole thing even more than the combo i got the first time

  9. I too was skeptical. Wont lie...created this account a couple of mins ago, and am weary of shills as well. This cart is worth the posting.

So i gave this cart a whirl...

Been eating street meat with a buddy of mine every friday for a little less than a year. I thought trinidadian jerk at 43rd and 6th was the best choice, even la baguette on 40th; but now both are in the top five. This guy is not only worth going to (six bucks instead of eight i have paid) hes probably the best around midtown. HUGE combo platter...really impressed with the spiciness and overall taste... meat to rice ratio is solid. Siked on the rewards card, buy five get one free; as opposed to the guy on 45th who mysteriously vanished when i got up to 4/10 punches.

    For now, probably my favorite.

  10. Haha this is hilarious. More shills to cover shills, nice job veesh! Throw your competitors under the bus too.

  11. I enjoy RoyalGrill. I eat there probably 2 times a week. I usually get their chicken kati rolls sometimes with or without sauce. I like the way they fry up the roti's with it. I have also gotten the chicken over rice and the chicken or lamb biryani, but are great. Their loyalty cards get me a free lunch ever third week or so. They have just started some vegetable somozas that are very tasty.

I wonder why their icon is no longer on the map? They are definitely on the SW corner of 6th and 44th, next to MyBiryani.

I wonder how many ML'ers actually fall for all these "Shills". I would hope all ML'ers are cynical New Yorkers like me and are immune to this "Shilling". These Royal Grill shill postings are getting on my nerves. Can we get someone out to Royal Grill and get a real, unadulterated review that we can trust?

  13. ESNY

wow, quite a lot of unique people creating new accounts just to post about a shitty generic street meat cart.

@sansaidan - here is my unadulterated review... if they are resorting to this kind of shameless shilling, the food obviously sucks
