Yea I bought $10 lunch gc's for Hill Country there for $2. Used 2 of them already. I actually posted about the experience (and food) on my site... there were a bunch of restrictions (for the $10 one, min $15 purchase, etc.) but it was worth it.

wow, ic...that's great. Do you have to let the waiter know about the gift certificates ahead of time?

It says you do... but I went to Hill Country which is set up very differently from most restaurants, so I couldn't say (I didn't show them anything until I went to pay). Sorry.

I got a $25 gift certificate for Hill Country for an absolutely ridiculous $3 (special discount through UPromise). The only restrictions were that you need a $35 minimum purchase (very, very easy at Hill Country) and it was not valid Fri or Sat nights. They took the certificate as cash at the register.

can you use multiple gift certificates or just one per visit?

It works, got 2 $25 GCs for $2 a piece. There can be restrictions on how much you have to spend ($50 on the $25 GCs), what days and times you can go and how many must be in your party. You just have to look closely before purchasing. But they're perfectly legitimate. If you can't deal with the restrictions, don't bother purchasing as you'll never use it. Also, only one per visit.

only one per visit? so i can't use 2 $50 gift cerficates at once? that sucks...but still a great deal.

My non-nyc friend once bought me a $25 GC to Chicken Bar (now closed). If any of you know Chicken bar, you know that you shouldn't be spending $25 there. In any event, she only paid $4 for it (60% off sale) so it wasn't a total wash...

Look for their sales...you can do some serious damage.

LOL @ the chicken bar thing. i hope there wasn't a minimum purchase for that gc.

the gc's do work - there are a bunch of restrictions on it, but those are clearly outlined on the gc itself

each restaurant may also have different restrictions so make sure to read carefully

Totally works. And be sure to take advantage when they have their coupons... like now. I believe the code for 80% off is "SANTA" :)

Thanks! i just copped $40 of hill country coupons for $3.20 using that discount code. what was extra nice was the fact that i had a random $3.85 in my paypal account that i was likely never going to use prior to today.
