Is it worth it for $24.07? Absolutely! I usually take advantage to experience some of the fine restaurants in NYC during 'restaurant week' which I would normally would never be able to afford on a day outside of restaurant week. Here are some of my favorites (because of how tasty the food is, the menu selection, food portions, service and overall ambiance): Asia de Cuba, Megu, Le Cirque, Calle Ocho,Petrossian,Pampano, The Russian Tea Room, Ruby Foo's, and Tao. Just remember not to order drinks because it is NOT included in the 3 course meal. A few drinks can add up...hope you guys give it a try!!!

I think it depends where you go... not just because of the quality of the restaurant itself, but rather what they are offering. If a restaurant has its Restaurant Week menu online, I'm more likely to partake... I forget what place but a few years ago, a certain steakhouse offered RW menus with no steak on the menu. Sure I bet they do chicken and salmon nicely but if I go to a steakhouse, I want steak. And in general, the steakhouses that do RW will offer steak - and that's a great deal, cuz it's a piece of meat. Other places seem to use this as an opportunity for press and extra seatings but then skimp on the food, or the servers aren't as nice because they think you won't tip well or something (I don't really know why?). I have been unimpressed the last few times I've done RW.

Don't waste your time.

I went once years ago. Some steakhouse, yeah what Yvo said, was basically a $20 appetizer.

NY Restaurant week is overrated. Like Chris said, don't waste your time.

There's a few restaurants that knocked RW out of the park. Gotham Bar & Grill, August, Centrico and Apiary come to mind. Because of their RW, i've been back for their full priced menu multiple times.
I went to Il Cantinori, Butter, and Asia De Cuba a while back. Those restaurants are normally pretty bad, but just sucked horribly at RW.

with so many deal sites now(Blackboard Eats, GroupOn, etc.) Restaurant Week is irrelevant

i hate restaurant week. in all the years ive been doing it, the only good dinner i had was at pranna.

I heard lunch at the Breslin is good during restaurant week.

It's so much more worth it to cook at home, save up some cash, and then splurge on the tasting menus. I mean would you rather eat one huge and excellent meal at a 4 star restaurant, or 15 mediocre meals at a pseudo Red Lobster? Because that's what RW means for at least a dozen of the places I've been to -- temporary Red Lobster.
Best meal was dinner at Roy's NYC 3-4 years ago, and that was because they had nearly all of their signature dishes available, AND only the entrees were at smaller portions. (Ever pay $30 for a 6oz steak, side salad, and a ball of ice cream? Yeah. Not cool). They captured the true spirit of RW in that they actually gave the full experience of the restaurant at a steal. Of course, they're closed now...
Tip: If you must partake, avoid pasta like the plague. It's one of the biggest restaurant cop outs.

Restaurants also push pate's and terrine's during RW. Those are very cheap to make en masse and require zero effort to fire and plate during service.
Also, salmon on every freakin' menu. Ugh. :-\

salmon and chicken.

Although it's not worth it for some places, for many it's a great deal. You're crazy not to try it. First, I'd compare the RW menu to their normal menu. If you can get at least an app and entree for the same cost via a la carte, I can understand the mentality that the dessert is not worth a restricted menu.
but everyone has different preferences. Just try it.
