My wife started working for Hoboken recently and is complaining about the food out there for lunch. Does anyone have any recommendations that I can give her?

Thx

Fiore's for sandwiches. A bit out of the way in the "President" streets but good mozzarella and roast beef. They have a daily sandwich special.

Lisa's deli on Park and 9th.

La Isla on Washington Ave byt the Courthouse for Cuban

I always thought Lisa's was way better than fiore's. But maybe I am biased b/c I was around the corner from Lisa's, and it was my first meal back in 1999 when I moved to hoboken.

I abhor Hoboken....it's full of douches. No offense Goats...it must have gone downhill without you.

I liked living there when I was there (I was on 6th and Adams). When I moved in, it was only the beginning of the yuppification. But now, the town does have its fair share of douches. I don't miss it at all and, honestly, haven't been back in YEARS...despite its close proximity.

I lived in Hoboken for 3 years. There are a lot of Italian delis (Fiorres and Lisa's are the best). I haven't found a Midtown ITALIAN deli that beats them (that's right, I said it!). Plenty of good pizza places. There is also a Five guys. Arthur's also has excellent burgers. if you don't have to eat at your desk, many of the bars have good food too. For Sushi, try Sushi House or Robongi.

Second the recommendation of La Isla for cuban sandwiches and on Tuesday, for the ropa veija special.

Satay Malaysian on 1st and Washington for the roti, curries and Chow Keub Tow (shrimp stir fried flat noodles).

Grimaldi's brick oven pizza, 133 Clinton St. (check if they deliver lunch).

Luca Brasi's 100 Park Ave for mobster named italian subs.

  12. Park & Sixth Comfort Foods. Fantastic, and would be even out of hoboken.http://www.parkandsixth.com/

I just moved out of Hoboken last month so here are some suggestions.
For good cheap Chinese food, Aroma is the best. I believe their lunch special is about $6 and you get soup or an egg roll with your meal.
Charrito's is decent Mexican. At the very least I'd just get an order of guacamole for lunch with chips and call it a day.
Illuzion serves good sushi, along with some good soups for when the weather's cold.
The best pizza is at Napoli's but that's pretty far uptown. Much better than Grimaldi's, in my opinion.
