Pastrami burger midtown or anywhere Manhattan?

El Dubya El

Just read this NY Times article about the pastrami burger from Utah, any idea where one could get this in Manhattan?

This sounds like a grown up version of the grease truck fat sandwiches that Zach and goats often rave about on these boards.

Oh man that looks good! Does the steak truck have pastrami? Maybe they can make it for us.

I cannot vouch for the authenticity of the following statement, but I always believed that Pastrami Burgers were invented by Jews. All the good Jewish Delis serve a Pastrami Burger, with the Pastrami substituting for Bacon. I have also had concoctions like a PLT, etc.

Best 2 Pastrami Burgers in Midtown I have had, (Both out of midtown lunch price range due to the "kosher" factor)are Mr. Broadway's Pastrami Burger Supreme (12.95 including Fries) and Ben's (12.99 also with Fries).

I prefer, far from the sainted halls of Mid-Town, the Deli King's Pastrami Burger in Lake Success Long Island.

@Apikoros18, thanks for the info about Ben's and Mr. Broadway!

  4. Fat sandwiches are absolutely grown up.

Speaking of fat sandwiches, Travel Channel had a segment featuring them on their show Extreme Pig Outs last night, featuring the RU Hungry truck, Darell and his namesake sandwich, Fat Darell.

I just moved here from Utah this summer and have been following the ML crowd for a while. Feeling the need to puff up my pride in the Utah pastrami burger was enough to bring me out of my lurking shadows for my first post.

Thanks for the tip @Apikoros18, I've been craving a Pastrami Burger for a week or two.

What's funny for me, is that having grown up Kosher in NY, I just assumed everyone knew what a pastrami burger was.... The fact that Utah has such a thing with them... Blew my mind!

    There's the steaktruck:

They have both burgers, and pastrami. I suggested to the steaktruck guy (who is on midtownlunch) that he make a pastrami burger. If enough people ask for it, maybe he'll add it to the menu (or perhaps he'll just be nice enough to make one upon request).

Pretty sure you can get a pastrami burger at Sarge's Deli in Murray Hill also.

I hope you're right 'foundconnections'...I can't speak for their burger, as I've never tried it. But I've had their pastrami once a week since I moved to NY, and it's HANDS DOWN the best in the city. You could put that delicious, fatty pastrami on strawberry ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup, and I'd still devour it...
Only thing is, Sarge's unfortunately doesn't fit in to the ML price range. But the extra 3-4 dollars is beyond worth it!

Update: Sarge's pastrami burger is only $9.95!!!! Everyone who reads midtown lunch should be eating that today!
