went the other night, food is excellent! mix of traditional korean and some fusion dishes, lots of dishes to share (they call them "kapas" which I guess is Korean tapas). I recommend the Japchae, enjoy!

i must try.
gotta say though.. considering how bad korean food gets the farther you get from k-town, i have low expectations.

shill, shill, shill . .. fun reading a new shill.
-
huh, who? hightemp? you think hightemp set up an account 5 months ago and posted elsewhere just to post today?
-
I'm sure he meant jratner, who registered in order to post on this thread. Dunno though, since most shills don't respond late in the evening.
Sounds more like someone who was happy to have somewhere new to eat after work, really.

shill or not, any new korean place, i'm trying

i learned a new word today -- shill.
-
uhhh not sure what shill is but the food was good (sorry I'm new at this).

Not to worry jratner, basically anyone who registers in order to post a glowing review of a restaurant is going to be looked at suspiciously.
A shill is essentially a person who works for some entity (another person, a restaurant, a fixed game at the carnival) and doesn't disclose that when dealing with or discussing that entity. So, if you worked at Chom Chom or did PR for them, and went on Midtown Lunch posting a glowing review of the place, without saying "hey, I work for Chom Chom", you'd be a shill.

Thanks for the heads up!
I'm willing to check it out and report back. I'm with monstermooch - a bit wary of Korean restaurants away from 32nd St.

im close friends with the owners of this restaurant, its definitely worth checking out. they get all their spices and key ingredients shipped in from south korea so the food is really authentic, but everything is served in a really modern way. a big part of their menu is "kapas" (aka korean tapas), which is a really unique twist to korean food. so for those who are always sticking to the same key dishes like bibimbop and bulgogi, its the perfect way to venture out and try different things, like the tofu pizza and spicy shrimp app. and you MUST try their kalbi, honestly the best i ever had. feel free to ask any questions about this place bc i can probably get you an answer. i may be biased but i dont lie :)
ok so this is my first ever post - does this make me a shill? hope not!

monstermooch: you're new around here, eh?

@stevenp what gave it away, my "shill" ignorance? haha. i've actually been reading this site for years, but i only started commenting recently.

Was walking back to work today on 56th and noticed a new Korean Place called Chom Chom or something like that. I think ts in that space that used to be zona rosa. (56 between 5 and 6)
Anyone else notice this? Been yet? Thoughts/comments/general info?
