Steve

I just started a new job at 33rd & 6th. woohoo!

Any MLers have any suggestions for me for lunch? Where's the best place for a great deli sandwich?

Thanks!

This may be a bit of a trek, but when I worked in that area, this is where I'd go:

They had great heros on on real italian bread.

I know Zach was disappointed, but I would reccomend the Milano Deli on 34th between madison and 5th. Get the MILANO SPECIAL--dont take a premade one--ask them to make you the real sandwich. I promise you won't be disappointed.

I am with Goats in saying go to Milano, but go about 11:45, get the rare roast beef on Semolina Bread... Usually by 12:15 they are sold out of the rare roast beef

working at 37th & 7th myself, I can reccomend the place in between 7th and broadway on 39th. it is a small sandwhich place next to a parking garage. small is an understatement, but they do make good sandwhiches on the cheap

@NoPickles - I've walked by that place so many times and been tempted to get a sandwich! What do you usually order?

No sandwich recommendation, but I'm surprised I'm the first to mention K-town for delicious cheap Korean food... Woorijip in particular. Mmm, I just went there yesterday.

  7. go to tina's cuban, on madison between 33rd and 34th! it's def worth the walk! huge portions and absolutely delicious, particularly the oxtail special :) people have told me their sandwiches are great, but i personally have never tried them.

also, ktown (32nd between 5th and broadway) is amazing - aside from woorijip, there's mandoo bar (korean dumplings), a tiny whole in the wall place that only serves kimbap (korean sushi rolls - you get like 12 big pieces for just $5), shanghai mong - a chinese place owned by koreans but still has decent chinese food and lunch specials, and a pho/shabu shabu place with decent noodle soup as well.
