Katz's Deli?
BTW iolite is working much better now! Enjoying! Though the volcano is still top of the pops (and 3 times the cost)....
-
And in response to your HH query, not sure I can ditch "early" next tuesday, since I'm planning to take Wednesday off. Maybe I can ditch at 5., but not like at 2 or 3 LOL....unless the bosses are out. Then I can go when I want....
-
Carnegie Deli to stuff your face with the Woody Allen or a tongue sandwich and a slice of cheesecake. Or I would do Sapporo.
-
Yeah, the io is portable too. Do you have the metal stems? I have extras if u need.
Is Carnegie a ML (under $10)? I want to stick with the spirit of ML. (Although the Woody Allen is tempting...)
-
Yup--they sent me a metal stem one that came yesterday since the plastic stem melted off first day!!
-
Though slightly above the ML price, Ippudo in the East Village has great ramen. I think it'll cost about $13 plus tax. If you're a big eater, you can add a second helping of noodles (with the bowl of broth) for $2.
-
OK, I might shift directions and try Ippudo for a change of pace. Solid ramen sounds appealing right now. (It'll be a late lunch for me today, tho.) Thx for the suggestions. (Will probably hit Katz's soon now-I'm very suggestible!)
Goats: I melted 3 pretty quickly, before the new stems were out.
-
Yeah, i have 3 more regular stems coming I think, since they didn't have them in stock when I ordered. I'm hoping my metal lasts, though my second plastic stem which I was using worked totally fine for the last 5 days til I switched.
Katz's is my bro's choice--he goes every time he's in the city.

Goats & Stevenp - you have me very curious as to what in the world you guys are doing with metal and plastic straws.....
-
I like Katz's, too. Their pastrami and mustard is worth killing for. Carnegie deli sandwiches are like 15 bucks, and the Woody Allen is 18. But they are worth every penny. They are well known for piling high sandwiches that would make the biggest of hungry eaters drop their jaws. I can finish a usual sandwich of beef tongue and a slice of cheesecake on my own. But the Woody Allen is something else. It's a meal that you could be eating for days. They may not have the same quality pastrami as Katz's, but considering their corned beef and the size of their sandwiches, it's definitely worth a trip once. And it's all the half sour and full sour pickles and cole slaw you want. I actually may have to hit this place up tomorrow for dinner.

I'm with monster, Whaa?
-
Why nothing, nothing at all. ;*) The regular ones are useless; the metal ones should last forever. Don't use generic Ronson fuel; I'm using Lucienne.
Now I have a major craving for Katz's. Thanks a lot!!!

Stevenp, how'd the ramen go?

OK, I need to get out of the office, and am looking for ideas for a good, slightly-off-the-mainstream ML today. (Had streetmeat yesterday, so no Kwik Meal or Famous Halal suggestions, please.) Anything goes (except salads!), fried and/or cheese are pluses. Being close to an N/R/W/Q, B/D/F/V or 1 train is a plus too. (I'm trying to head off another stroll over to the Shack!) Ideas? TIA
