What is this 'bringing' of lunch. Is that a new shop?
-
hold on a sec. you are saying if you bring lunch from home it is cheaper than going out? MIND = BLOWN!
Zach, why have you not reported on this?
-
yes steve, i am going to be a millionaire while you guys are spending $10 on lunch everyday.
I just realized that CVS underneath our building is now carrying sandwiches but I don't think i will go that low. -
mmmmmmm....not a forum topic, unless you're giving out free samples....
-
i can guarantee that no one in the history of the world became a millionaire just by bringing their lunch to work.
-
But what if their mom packed golden nuggets in their lunch, and then they sold them on the black market? Maybe then you could become a millionaire....? (crickets, crickets)
STILL NOT A FORUM TOPIC!

touche' Goats.
i wish my Mom was like that.

I am intrigued by your methods. Can I also save some money by cooking dinner at home instead of going out to a restaurant? By doing my own laundry instead of dropping it off at the laundromat?
-
The only thing negative about this lunch plan is that i felt a little awkward bringing a long thing of bread back into the office building.
-
Bringing my own lunch lasted 2 days, about 2 years ago..

Hey I saved enough money to buy an apartment... to quit my job, go back to school... by bringing my own lunch. And I lost 20 lbs.
Still not a forum topic for Midtown Lunch, though.

Not hating on the idea of bringing lunch because plenty of people do it and still read ML. I definitely need a variety with my lunch and you don't really save money here unless you want to eat your sandwich for the entire week? Maybe not everyone needs variety. If you do not, why not just eat whole wheat PB&Js for the week then? Brilliant!! It's healthier, even cheaper and will last for more lunches than cold cuts and cheese on baguette.
2 slices of dollar pizza, $5 street meats or cheap chinese take-out are otay options too if you're fine with the "quality" and "healthiness" of the meal.
You can easily save money by NOT EATING AT ALL too. :P
This thread should be more focused on "WHAT DO YOU DO TO SAVE MONEY ON LUNCH?" or "WHAT ARE YOUR IDEAS FOR BRINGING IN LUNCH?" instead of spending $10 outside (below $10 meals makes this site flourish though!)...or for cheapskates, "WHERE THE FREE SAMPLES AT?"

I just came back from vacation (no $$$, spent it all on food..lol) so I have been trying to save some money by bringing lunch from home.
So I brought sliced ham, aged cheddar cheese and tomatoes sliced all wrapped separately in a plstic wrap. I also brought a small jar of dijon mustard.
Then I am gonna go to Food Emporium near my work to buy baguettes(thanks to Chowhound.com, I found out that Food Emporium near me carries Tom Cat baguettes which are better than Amy's and Balthazar)and assemble the sandwich...all this cuz i hate soggy sandwich.
Actually i did this yesterday and it was SO good.
