Wellerfan

I'm a former Midtown West Ml'er just relocated Downtown, need some rec's. Needs to be near Fulton and I only get 30 mins. so I can't venture far :(

I wont say what I've eaten so far, for fear of being banned from this website :/

Please help!

near William. Spotted a Popeye's, I'll use that as a default for now ;) But yeah, I think you might know my tastes from the midtown page. Im an old skool ML'er , I like it big, I like it fried, and a like it cheap!

Well, the downtown site has probably covered a lot of these places (as have I), but right near you is House of Sandwich/pomodoro something, sandwiches, soups, pretty cheap. You're relatively close to L&L (Hawaiian, don't eat here too often unless you want to get really fat), Country Kebab... both of which are inexpensive and pretty tasty. There is Baoguette if you like that sort of thing, but it's $1 (at least) more than the other locations around the city. Ummm...

  4. Used to live to 2 Gold...thankfully no more. Anyhow, there's Toloache Taqueria on Maiden/Gold and the usual Pret around there as well. There's a BonChon on John Street b/w Cliff & Pearl and some place called OpenDoor Gastropub that I wanted to check out but never did on that same block. And there's a Financier on William (I personally was not a fan). Good luck down there...

Thanks, I'll start with these! Went to the Mexican Taco truck today, had the hornado. Also passed by the Wall St Burger truck but the line was too long.

There's always a collection of food carts on Broadway and Liberty - one makes pretty good potstickers. Right on Madien & William is a deli-type place where you can get a decent make-your-own-salad. There's a Potbelly Sandwich Shop opening on Maiden between Pearl & Gold, too. Also, if you're ever in the mood for a mid-afternoon fro-yo break, I'm a huge fan of the new Red Mango that opened. Reese Peanut Butter Cup bits + those weird fruit flavored bubbles they have as a topping = PB&J ice cream!

Oh yeah, I forgot that my favorite street meat cart is down there too - Front & Wall. Or South & Wall? It's Michael's, which has been posted on DL before. Whole chunks of lamb, not gyro meat ground up. Good stuff
