Midtown Diners

CrumbHunter

The post on Comfort Diner reminded me of my own issues with living in NYC after growing up surrounded by great Jersey diners. Does anyone have any favorite diner in midtown, esp. on the west side?

yea diners! mmm taylor ham, egg & cheese on a roll with fries.

moonstruck/euro does a good impression of a jersey diner. they have a bunch around the city.

westway on 9th avenue around 44th is good.

@Moochie: We had a Red Oak diner near my hometown too....nowhere near fort lee though.

Plaza Diner was so stuffy! I liked Red Oak but it was out of our way.

we had one RIGHT in town (a big deal when your town is really, really small & off the radar) but it closed so we'd either hit The Waterfalls on Bergen Blvd. or Malibu in Hoboken after football games. mmm... disco fries with cole slaw.

Steve - I've wondered about Westway. Is that the one with the giant sign saying they're the best diner by the NY Post or something? That sign has kept me away, but I'll give them a whirl. Out of desperation one hungover morning we trudged to Junior's for breakfast and nearly died when we saw the prices... alas convenience trumped cost that morning. I vowed NEVER AGAIN!

yea, westway can be hit or miss with the service, but the food is good. cheap too.
