{they even offer dipping sauces}
-
Thanks for the heads up. Home made ice cream sandwich? I'm there.
-
If anyone watches the NBC show America's Next Great Restaurant, this is exactly like the contestant for "Meltworks" that was eliminated recently.....go figure.
-
@Daniel: That was the reason for my second comment....The guy with the Meltworks concept didn't take Flay's advice to offer dipping sauces - he wasn't receptive to any suggestions and thus got eliminated.
After posting yesterday, I ran into Spencer, the owner, when headed to the subway to go home. Nice guy (young guy), big ideas. He said that he wants to try to get a liquor license so people can congregate in the outdoor seating area. I'm not so sure how that would work with the outdoor area being a public space. Some of it would probably have to be roped off.
Anyway, I had the buttermilk-fried chicken sandwich and it was awesome. Fried chicken on buttered pan fried bread and spicy cheese. I wasn't so sure about the red cabbage slaw, but it adds to the sandwich....no clue what the "melt sauce" is either, but all in all, the combination is definitely a winner.

They should consider putting napkins in the bag when packing your order. I didn't think to take them when leaving and didn't have them when I got back to my office.
-
I sat outside Melt Shop today and was surprised by the steady flow of customers they had. Some of it seems rather expensive, and - this coming from someone who doesn't work in the area - it seems kind of out of the way to notice on a walk to look for lunch.
PS joer that sandwich you got sounds amazing.
-
Who the hell doesn't have any napkins in their office?
-
i have about 10 trees worth of napkins in my desk.
-
Hey I thought I was the only one with a huge stack of napkins.
-
i am actually the 1st profile of a new show coming to A&E next month.
Hoarders: NAPKINS.
-
Do you also hoard utensils? I have a huge bag full.
-
vdubjb: My company supposedly has napkins, but I'd rather not go into the woman's restroom to get them...besides, I hear they charge for them.
I'd rather the place I purchase food from just put at least a couple in the bag.
Seriously, if I take my food to eat elsewhere and not back to my office, most public spaces do not have napkin dispensers.

napkins, ketchup, hot sauce, mustard, salt/pepper packets,I got it all.

There is a new place opening in the former Moshe's Cafe location called Melt Shop. It's within the Citigroup Building's open air area and right next to a Dunkin Donuts. Looks like Grilled Cheese, Zapps, and Stumptown coffee.
