I guess you can refer to this:
-
bouchon bakery!
-
Financier in grand central
-
Someone just gave me some from La Maison. Haven't tried them yet.
-
Not really big on macarons. I've had the GC Financier macaron (pistachio) and thought it was so-so. Pretty big though and 2.25 each. I'll go back and try the chocolate one sometime when in the mood.

Big fan of MdC macarons. Really expensive, but tasty and well-made.
-
i am not a big fan of macaroons from Financier but they are alot more cheaper than other places.
i used to like macaroons from La maison du chocolat but they have changed the filling to chocolate ganache and no more for me.
I actually like passion fruit flavored macarons from Medeleine but that's on 23rd street.Dave, where can i find these MdC macarons?

i haven't had any of the aforementioned so i don't have much to compare to... but i really do enjoy the ones from Kee's Chocolates near Prince St. I think it was either the lavender or cassis that made me J in my P.

just ignore the fact that they call it macaroons. :)
oh and a lot of them have a chocolate based filling which could overwhelm the star flavor so choose wisely. just fyi.edit: forgot to add that they have a location inside an HSBC in Midtown

Maison du Chocolat (MdC) has okay macarons- not a fan of their chocolate ganache filling (or their prices, for that matter).
financier has good Pistachio Macarons (the rest are not so great)- go to the one on 47th street.
or get a magic bar from Magnolia :)

Also the new "cafe" or whatever in the Hyatt on 42nd and Lex carries packs of them from the Macaron Cafe. Haven't tried them yet but they've been recommended here several times.
-
How is it that no one said Macaron Cafe? (The actual store...not just the ones sold at the hyatt)
And it might help to know where exactly kcijones001 is so we can give more directed suggestions.

@hightemp: I was wondering the same thing!
The Macaron Cafe is amazing! Just went there for the first time the week before Mother's Day, and they had beautiful, hand-painted macarons for Mother's Day presents. Everything looked fresh and delicious. They also have a full menu of sandwiches and salads, all of which are at or below the Midtown Lunch limit. A new store is opening on 59th between Madison and Park this summer.161 West 36th Street
