lol did you just call McDonald's good food?
Ummm, I went there after watching the fireworks last year 4th of July... got really, really sick. I recommend avoiding the souvlaki... or was it gyro? that I got. Just FYI.

Five Star Diner. Right down the street from you.

I live in LIC. I hope you know about Sage General Store! Def go there for lunch. Dutch Kills (Sasha Petraske's newest bar) just opened up there. My favorite spots in LIC are Blend and Sweetleaf. The soups at Sweetleaf are amazing. Blend has one of the best brunch specials I've ever had.

Court Sq. Diner is okay. Nothing to rave about. At my old job, we use to order there for late night dinners during busy season. I've sat down for their service once too. It's okay overall.
I've had their chicken souvlaki and it's eh. I usually got their italian dishes. Chicken parm was my fav. I've also ordered burgers, appetizers and corn beef hash from there. They're all okay. Nothing special.
For a decent italian meal, I'd probabyl go to Manetti's. I never had a problem with their food ro service. http://nymag.com/listings/restaurant/manettas-ristorante/

I should have done this weeks ago.
I had to work in the LIRR train yard (21st and jackson ave) all week and there were no good food options. What kind of area doesn't have a mcdonalds?
One guy I worked with suggested these random places I've never heard of. So I pass on this story to my co-worker and all of a sudden she goes off about how great the "Court Square Diner" is (even though she's never been, go figure!).
Had to go upon that 2ndhand rec. The waitstaff was intelligent. I ordered fish and chips and a side of corn beef hash. Got an approving "good combination" smirk from the waiter.
Fresh cut fries were a huge plus. well cooked, only one of them was mealy. CBH was CRISP on top which i love but it looked like it came out of a can. Fish and chips was actually a 2 fillet fish sandwich on some toasted buns. coleslaw was banging. pickles were real pickles (not the half pickled in vinegar kind)
