Little Morocco Omar at Kebab Express

Kopper

It's uncertain if Little Morocco will ever return. Because of this, Omar has taken his talents to Kebab Express on the SE Corner on 55th and 6th. I went there for the 1st time last week and came back impressed.

The hot sauce is an Afghani-style sauce as opposed to the Moroccan sauce I was used to, but it was still good. It was dialed down 1 notch in terms of spiciness but it was still tasty and not a generic hot sauce.

I would say that while the 50's and 6th Ave seem to have the richest bounty of Halal carts in the city, the rich just got richer, much to Midtown West's chagrin. For those of you in that neighborhood loyal to other carts up there, I would try the New Kebab Express and see how it stands up. I'd be curious to see what you think.

Eating this today. While I like the spices on the chicken, and the lamb is perfectly fine (hard to really screw that up), the rice is the terrible generic yellow - I didn't get the brown rice, dunno if that's a rookie mistake. Anyway. Hot sauce is a different taste, a little sweetness but plenty hot. Not bad, not bad. Just fix the rice.
