Little Morocco

Goats

I finally got a chance to hit Little Morocco before the game last night. Thanks StreetMeas (and Zach/ML) for pointing it out to me! Got the extra extra hot sauce and it was good! Not 53rd st. hot, but it definitely wasn't hidden (as I asked for light white sauce)! Got the combo, as advised, but didn't get any extras (no french fries, peppers or falafal). No big deal--the meats I did get were pretty good-nice char on them-and kicked the 53rd cart's ass, as I expected it to(though I will still go with Kwikmeal as best tasting cart food--largely b/c they use real lambchunks). That being said, while it didn't feel THAT heavy on the walk home, I opened it to find a never ending supply of food!!!I only got through about half of it, and I was gorging on it throughout the game! I will return!

Thanks to NoPickles for originally bringing this cart to our attention with his entry about their hot sauce.

Definitely worth the $5 every time. Especially with all the food given and comparing it to other not-so-filling $6 halal plates out there. I might have to eat it again for Friday dinner with extra hot sauce too. No fries or you didn't want any? They usually just give it to me for no reason, as with most people who order from them. I almost never get the overflow of beans though (lil bit of chickpeas before and none at all the last time)...probably cuz it's late when I go or they're trying to save me from the ultimate gas-bomb. No falafel ever either but it's alright. Already a LOT going on with their best garbage platter in Midtown.

I just said "give me the combo please"---so he packed it up--but didn't add fries or chickpeas or anything other than salad, lamb, chicken and rice. As much meat as rice, maybe even more meat than rice. Perhaps I should have asked for "everything"--all the extras? Regardless, I was quite happy with the shitton of meat he gave me--as well as the ton of hot sauce! More meat and spice/less potato is always good with me! I can make my own rice if I need more!

one question, there seemed to be a cart on both corners of 39th + 7th---the one I went to said Little Morocco, other one didn't seem to have the sign, though they both looked the exact same. Are they both Little Morocco?

I only ask for the combo w. rice too. I guess they are random with the extras. The dudes working there are very nice though so don't hurt to ask. I think their meat to rice ratio is damn good. It never feels like they pile on the rice but defintiely a mess-load of everything when you start eating it.

No clue about the other cart. I'm sure I've seen it too passing by but never bothered to stir away from Little Morocco.

@StreetMeasOnsumer3008: thanks for the cred on this find.

The cart across the street (near wachovia?) is not the same. I think the guy who does that cart is Greek perhaps but not sure on that. I have got the lamb over rice there (before little morroco was around) it was ok, but not close to my new favorite cart. Pricing though, the guy across the street is $5 and sometimes gives a free can of soda.

My mistake--kudos to you as well, No Pickles-for initially turning all of us on to this gem. I will go back again, if only to demand all the extras (in an ice way)....I have no problem paying more for quantity! I will say 5 bucks is highway robbery--in our favor! That was easily worth 6-7 in my book! I won't stray--even for a free can of soda....

Their plate is definitely worth more than 5. I would only stray from Little Morocco for the complimentary soda can at the new XPL on 52nd & 3rd (I saw they're still around pass 6pm so it's a good dinner option for me at $5 combo or a $3 pita sandwich snack) but only because they have one of the best basmati rices for street meats, their flavors are consistently good, and a block from my office. Their portion is quite average though, so if I'm super-hungry than no other choice but Little Morocco!!

    Haha. Ice way.
I think if you ask, they will oblige. They seem like cool people. Zach has recommended asking them for the mixed rice(combination of yellow, white and brown rice?). You can do that too. I've only did that once though. I now stick to the yellow rice. Maybe I should be asking for the beans. ;P

I meant "nice way"...LOL and yeah, the guy was real cool, and gave me this evil grin when I asked for extra hot sauce---I evilly grinned back and explained I am a ghost chili fan....Not sure he got what I meant...

  8. Sarah

I'm eating a falafel from there right now! (one hand typing) and they forgot the hot sauce! I'm so sad... though there are bonus beans in here....

ahem... also without the hot sauce you can tell how mayonnaise-y the white sauce is...

  11. Goats

Good thing I went double on the hot sauce/light on the white---as i hate a largely mayobased white sauce! That was my biggest turn off of all regarding the 53rd and 6th cart...

Why can't everyone take the time to do white sauce kwik meal style....it is so damn GOOD!

  12. StreetMeasOnsumer3008

Evil grin? Haha. I think he smirked because he probably didn't believe you can handle it?
I got a smirk too when I asked for extra hot sauce. He smiled at me as if I wouldn't play with fire again. The extra really helps! For me, it's the hot sauce that enhances the halal platter's flavors more so than most white sauces alone. A definite reason why I couldn't fully dig Shendy's and their caked-on white sauce plate. 53rd/6th isn't so bad I think. Their surpreme hot sauce overpowers their mayo sauce. Little Morocco's white sauce is standard stuff and I do prefer a yogurt-based white sauce over mayo. Tzatziki FTW!!

The extra hot sauce definitely helps! When I went to the 53rd cart, I got 2 whites, 2 reds, and before trying them both, dumped most of both white sauces on the food as well as every last drop of the 2 red sauces. I figured the sauces had to be amazing b/c of the hype. Shame on me for not trying it first!! I literally wretched after the first bite which had lots of their white sauce on it! I had to try and scrape off the white sauce, which I found totally vile. The red sauce was great, and the only worthwile ingredient they used (I wasn't into their steamed flavorless lipton soup like chicken slivers or the lamb).

I didn't mind Morrocco's white sauce, and quite enjoyed their hot sauce...and always, Tzatziki for the win!!!!!!!

  14. i had eth chicken and rice from queens yesterday...on broad...shit was BANGIN!

  15. I'll have to check this place out soon. Used to work pretty close by. And GOATS: I have given up on the NONEXISTENT "Madison & 28th" cart that you were hallucinating about earlier. I ventured over there once again to check it out on Friday, around 4:30 pm,and there was no cart within a block in any direction of Mad & 28th. For shame, Goats.
