i have been known to frequent Carl's Cheesesteak for late night goodness which turns into next day badness.
although I tend to go to Sarge's during earlier hours, it is open 24 hours. they never disappoint.
Kati Roll is good too.

halal Cart/truck on 28th and Madison....it is my "go to" b/c of proximity to my apartment and the fact it's open until 4 am. Once a year,I hit the McDonalda on 28th and park latenight, or the wendy's on 33rd and 5th, but usually it is cart food for me if I am buying something latenight.

If I am on a date, I will bring them to Seppi's at the Le Parker Meridien for martini's and a light snack. If I am with buddies, you got to hit up the street meat on 6th Ave. Or I will swing by K-town for some 24 hr bbq, karaoke, and soju to keep the party going.

Kati Rolls (Biryani Cart / 46th & 6th) after drinks at Jimmy's Corner will be my downfall.

Halal cart at 53rd and 3rd in Midtown, Oasis at Bedford and N 7th in Billyburg, and the less special pizza joint at 33rd and 3rd in Murray Hill. Let's be real, in the aforementioned scenario, anything edible will do.
mghu: I was recently introduced to k-town. Life will never be the same.

@ Sir Eats-A-Lot: Welcome to a whole new beautiful world filled with delicious sides, greasy meats, and long nights of embarrassment that you will later remember in sporadic bits during the hazy fog of when you aren't in K-Town. That's K-Town. Sometimes you just don't understand.
@ Monstermooch: Yeah you got to watch out with that stuff. It creeps up on you when you don't really expect it. That being said. Sissy.

Awesome suggestions folks, please keep them coming! I'm hearing a lot about the Kati Rolls, I'd better check them out.
I work near K-Town, so I think I'll have to do the hard work of checking out all the BBQ I can eat. I usually go to Won Jo, but made it out to Kun Jip a few weeks ago and loved it.
@Goats, I've seen that halal cart with a line of taxis behind it. I'm going to take that as a good sign. I'll definitely include it.

You should also check out the izakaya Hagi. It's around that area.

5 star in long island city...but about the distance of 3 avenues away (going directly over the bridge)...and my friend doesnt drink so driving is never an issue!
-
@mghu777... it's evil stuff that makes you, i.e. me, do evil things. if not drinking soju makes me a sissy, yes, i am a full-blown sissy. so help me god. :P

There are several great Izakaya options in midtown for late night dining. Many open well past 2:00 a.m. For example, Ariyoshi (on East 53rd) and Riki (on East 52) open until very late. Yakitori Tory's also caters to the late night, hostess bar frequenting Japanese expats.

Hi folks,
I do a column on Examiner about NY Nightlife. I want to start covering some of the late night eats around NYC.
I was thinking tacos and shwarmas and skewers and hot dogs and, wait, that all sounds familiar, right? The same greasy goodness that makes for a good lunch is even better after several drinks.
So, who better to consult than MLers?
Where do you like to eat at 2am? It can be in midtown or elsewhere around NY. I'll be checking comments here and on the late night eats page.
Can't wait to hear from you.
Thanks
