jelly? looks like stretchy sticky tapioca starch to me. We've got a similar dish in Vietnam and sometimes use mungbean paste for the lighter laters. we call it Banh Da Lon which translates to like 'pork skin cake.' it's also flavored with pandanus and coconut so maybe you'll like it as an alternative? vietnamese sandwich shops in chinatown would likely stock these

Does anyone know where I can get khanom chun in New York? It's a Thai dessert, nine layers of delicious coconutty jelly like dessert...have been craving it for a long time.
