so every monday, it's $5.50??? wow, why didn't I know about this?
-
Is this for real? I see no mention of this on their website or anywhere else. Sounds like a great deal.

Dammit, today's Tuesday. :^(

Now this is what I call a good deal. I love the katsukare from Katsuhama. Perfect for winter when you need a warming meal.

i just had it earlier tonight. very upsetting experience overall. the waiter tried to teach me how to eat. "this is onion dressing for the cabbage." um.. thanks i prefer the cabbage sopping wet with curry sauce.
i hate that you have to *ask* them to refill your water. am i just spoiled or are people still supposed to earn their tips?
and one waitress kept staring at me while I was eating, probably disapproving of my methods. made me feel self-conscious about how i chew. i hate her for it eternally and will likely develop a complex over it.
I don't want to make too many comments about the food because i'm not sure if what I had was some regional style of katsukare. it was definitely different from 55 or cafe zaiya in that it didn't have bits of meat in the sauce... i prefer the bits of meat.
and they covered my katsu completely in sauce. soggy fried foods is a huge peeve of mine. $30-dinner-for-two fail....

Tried the new Katsuhama on 55th today, lured in by the promise of curry for $5.50 (every Mon, apparently). I love the 47th one... I went 3 days in a row for their 15 year 50% off lunch specials, so that's the standard I was holding the one on 55th to.
For $5.50, it's a great deal since it's normally $12-13. Curry over rice with your choice of katsu - chicken, pork tenderloin and pork loin, plus all you can eat salad. I had the pork tenderloin and the quality of meat was excellent - moist, juicy and tender. Sadly (poorly prepared food makes me sad), it was oversalted with the panko slightly undercooked (the color was lighter than my lunch companion's Hire Katsu set course), and the curry was bland. I'd go back for the special, but might walk farther to 47th on other days.
