Is There a "Hot Soup" cart near your office?

Zach Brooks

I always wanted to compile a list of where all the "Hot Soup" carts are. You know the ones I'm talking about, right? With the giant red sign that says "Hot Soup". If there's one near your office please post it below? (But only the you've seen recently, becaue they've been known to move.)

I know of two for sure...

45th btw. 5+6th

and

52nd btw. 6+7th

Anybody else got one?

by my apartment there is one on Park between 32nd & 33rd

Are you doing downtown too? I know of one that serves almost just soup and it is fantastic --- it's on Broad and Beaver (across from SB; on the northwest corner). It's not expensive and they have a good variety of soup that changes almost daily, and they give you a big hunk of bread with your soup (I think it's a bagel cart in the mornings).

If you're not doing Downtown too, sorry :)

Looking forward to your list. I've been disappointed ever since the Hot Soup guy on 41st and Park disappeared two years ago.

The two you list are the only two I've seen this fall in midtown. Love the "chicken jerk" soup.

Have any of you guys tried the "Hot Soup" carts? Mine's the 52nd St. one, and I'm really curious/tempted

I'm going to lead a counter-revolution and open a stand called "Cold Soups", featuring borscht, gazpacho and vichyssoise. They'll never see it coming!

51st between 8th & Broadway - although the other day he was over between Broadway & 7th.

  9. Do all the Hot Soup guys buy from the same commissary?

I love soup and have some almost every day, but when I tried one of these guys after first seeing them a few years ago, I was pretty disappointed. I too, am near the one on 52. Maybe I'll give them another shot.

Yeah, they all get their soup from the same place...

I'm in Jersey City today (FML) and spotted a hot soup cart just off the Exchange Place PATH. I guess the cross streets would be Montgomery and Washington

There's one on 49th and 6th (next to the bulgogi cart).

One of these guys just popped up this week in front of my office on 54th and Madison. Should I eat it?

  14. I've tried the 'higher end' soups from these guys.. ie Lobster Bisque and it's very disappointing. I'm all for street food but their prices aren't that much better than a dreaded hale & hearty and their 'premium soups' are watery, flavorless or too salty and that lobster didn't taste like lobster... more like imitation crab.

Am I the only one who thinks Zach was being sarcastic when he said they all get their soup from the same place?

  16. Zach Brooks

    @Yvo - None intended :-)

All the carts with the red "Hot Soup" signs are the same.

Hot soup near me on 52nd btwn 3rd and Lex. Right next to the Starbucks. Pass on the generic halal cart as they aren't very good. Go to XPL u pthe block if you want halal.

Wall street across from 60 Wall, advertised Lobster Bisque today.
