Hot weather food

Chris H.

I'm sitting here, basting in my own sweat, thanks in part to our building's woefully underpowered A/C. I'd like to bitch about the weather and global warming, but lunch hour is nigh.

ML'ers, what's your favorite food to beat the heat? I'm thinking a bowl of cold naengmyeon, but i'd like to hear what others eat when it's hot outside.

I'm with TardyKat, when it was super humid and hot last week I got a classic banh mi, something about the pickled veggies, cilantro and cucumber. It worked perfectly with an ice cold soda or bubble tea. Other hot weather foods have been strawberries, cherries, blueberries or fruit smoothies.

@deanlo I had to look up what Halo Halo was. It's like... not stupid looking Taiwanese shaved ice.

i prefer halo halo because it has ube (purple yam paste), flan, and sometimes ice cream if you go to the good filipino places. :)

but then again, i've never had taiwanese shaved ice...

Funny story. My GF got excited one time when she saw a flyer for Halo Night and thought it was a shaved ice event. But she read on and realized it was just a video game tournament. :(

I've never tried halo halo... is it similar to Korean patbingsu? For that matter, is there anywhere to get patbingsu in the 40's and 50's?

i am sure halo halo is good but probably not as good as nicely made potbingsoo. yummm..
one thing, i hate it when they put those canned fruits into my bingsoo..
