Choose foods that don't require much mouth movement. I remember eating shepherd's pie when I had some dental work done. I can't imagine you really *need* to chew halal c&l over rice :) Perhaps indian food like mottir paneer or keema mottir or any of the saag dishes.
Good luck :)

Seven words:
Cafe Zaiya Large Green Tea Shaved Ice

Props to this guy for the commitment to a solid lunch despite logic and pain. I think wayne is on the right track though. I might have to have my wisdom teeth pulled soon too, I should not have put this off for so long...

I've been thinking Indian for a while - I only prey that the spice doesn't cause some unanticipated agony in the sockets where the teeth were removed. I guess I can go Indian and if in pain, try Wayne's "Cafe Zaiya Large Green Tea Shaved Ice" to bring myself back to equilibrium. What a miserable experience this is, though!

I would say eat room-temperature soups!
I was eating a lot of congee/ rice soup when I had mine pulled. There was chicken chunks in the congee and I just swallowed it whole sometimes without biting it thoroughly. LOL.Ice Cream doesn't hurt.

I'd be careful about drinking from a straw, I ignored this advice and my mouth didn't heal for weeks after I got my wisdom teeth pulled.

I remember eating a lot of luke, warm- room temperature soups for the whole time and having to mash up any noodles, carrots or potatoes, chicken, etc. found in the soup.

I agree with El Dubya, straws are bad news.
It took me 3 days to get back on my feet...my brother was fine day of the surgery, that goof.

poridge? did i spell that correctly?
-
i ate at hale and hearty when i had my teeth pulled... but that was when i was rich.
warm soups
mashed 'taters
im thinking sashimi is pretty soft to chew.. and really yummy! -
Had all 4 of my wisdom teeth ripped out of my jaw about 3 weeks ago. I didn't want to eat for about 3 days following the procedure.
Lived on tuna salad and hummous from Zaytuna for awhile, in addition to deviled ham and chicken in a can. I can eat most normal foodys now. (*most* ) Hard-core chewing is still out of the question.
Also - invest in an oral irrigator to clean out the holes where your teeth used to be. Everything I eat gets trapped in there. :-(
-
all 4 at the same time? That's nuts. Usually they do one side first, and then the other side at a later point.
-
@adamprato: I had 4 done at once.

Honestly, I'd hit a wendy's for their chili--which is pretty good and cheap....I don't know of any "great" soup places, so I'm going cost savings....since you can't chew really.

So I'm still under a week out from having my wisdom teeth extracted. The first few days were miserable, characterized by endless fruit smoothies. Please tell me someone has gone through this before and can send me somewhere other than the Fruit Shake carts so that a loyal Midtown Luncher can eat a decent meal, even in adverse circumstances.
