I have been wondering the same thing since. Hopefully someone has some insight.

They are there today

I haven't seen the owner but I did see what looked like a new cart there yesterday. I think the owner had told me it would be a new cart as the last one had too many issues to bring back. If I see him today or tomorrow to confirm the food etc... is the same as always I will post.

Ive seen a cart there but when i look up close its like a hotdog cart & the guy that was there after omar, is no longer there, I am going to check again today as well, ill let u guys know also.

My coworker just came back from there. It's a different guy with different style. He said the meat tastes good but its pretty simple, boring salad, but theres onions and green peppers. Sauce is standard. No chickpeas/corn.

so it is the hot dog cart then? that's kind of disappointing that the moustache guy isn't there any more...
is this the most volatile cart in midtown?

I think we might have a new "Imposter Cart." It looks just like the temporary cart that the owner had when the original was taken off the streets. However, in the past week, walking by it every day, there has been no sign of the guy. There used to be 2 competing generic carts on 40th and 7th near the subway entrance and now there is only one. I think this cart might be one of them.
It seems to me that Little Morocco is dead.

Ok, Random Update...
I was walking on the Upper East Side to pick up my daughter from a playdate last night and someone taps my shoulder on 78th and 3rd. Its the LM Owner who was MIA all this time. He owns a cart there and saw me out of the blue.
We got to talking and he said the current cart on 39th and 7th is owner by a friend of his and is only a placeholder until he is ready to come back. I asked him how long and if it was going to be Little Morocco or not. He said it would be the exact same cart with the same food. I asked when: 1 week? 3 weeks? A month?
He said it would probably be a month, which in LM terms is about 3 months. So at least we some confirmation that this cart is an "imposter" but that LM intends to return.
I don't know if this really matters to anyone at this point. They have been so flaky that I imagine most of you have found new favorite carts in the neighborhood. I'll certainly be looking forward for their return but I wouldn't start checking in until around Super Bowl time I'd say. Anyway, I've passed along what he told me and you can file it away as you wish. Now that it's getting cold and Tabata Ramen delivers, I'm not as desperate for good street meat as I was 2-3 months ago.

Thanks for the update, Kopper. I tried the food that his friend (who also claimed to be affiliated with LM) and it was a pretty generic and bland version of street meat. I've definitely moved on to trying some different carts in the area (which isn't such a bad thing I suppose), but I'll also be awaiting the return of the real LM. I'll probably start checking once/week in January. In the mean time, let us know if you run into the owner again and have any more updates. It seems like you have the best access to LM info around here.

Wow, this is good news for me, because my office has been exiled to 74th St. (UGH) on the UES (UGGGH). So now I know where to go for street meat! At least for the next 1-4 (?) weeks. Woo hoo!

Nothing wrong with my neighborhood - but I can't imagine what offices are up there. Tang's Garden at 76th/3rd is fairly good not-quite-Chinatown Chinese, and there's a Dos Toros on Lexington just north of the 6, but there's almost nothing street-meaty about the area until you go toward the hospitals.

Thanks for the tips, Dave.
I've only tried Dos Toros once, for the tacos, when I was on a taco crawl, but it was the location in Union Sq. and it was a long time ago. They were pretty decent, and the ingredients were high-quality, but something didn't fully mesh for me. I'd probably rather ride a couple more stops on the 6 up to Spanish Harlem. I bet there are some yummy tacos hidden there. Overall, I am not happy to be exiled to this wasteland. Um, no offense. Bizarre spot for an office, yes, even for a start-up. I probably need to send out resumes. (sigh)

At the end of October, someone posted that they would be gone for a few weeks for inspection. It's now been over 3 weeks, and they are still not back at their usual spot (39th & 7th, NE corner). Does anyone have any news on them? I know there was someone on this site that ran into the cart's owner from time to time.
