Happy Thanksgiving! What is your favorite part?

Mamacita

Being away from the family for the holiday I really miss my mom's Chorizo Beans. Yes, no meal is complete without beans! She'd cook them for what seemed like hours and they'd come out a reddish, burnt sienna brown color -laced with sprigs of Mexican oregano and chili peppers. Packed with salty pork flavor and the beans were soft like buttah. The turkey took second place to the amazing sides on our table.

What are your favorite foods, recipes, or just plain great foodie memories for the holidays?

What's Mexican oregano like in relation to oregano?

Smaller leaves and much more of an intense flavor.

Interesting, I'll have to look for that and check it out. Thanks!

Mamcita, my favorite part of Thanksgiving is making new dishes with the left over meats. With my left over Turkey I made Tarragon Turkey, With the Left Over Chicken I made Chicken Pot Pies " my kids don't eat turkey" with the left over ham I manage to make Yankee Bean Soup with Ham.

My favorite part is playing drinking games with friends. Always a pleasure.

I followed Alice Water's brining method this year and i think it's a keeper. My brother in law gave me a 14 lbs Amish free range turkey and it was super moist and ultra tasty. lol
I can't think of thanksgiving without roasted brussel sprouts with smoked bacon.
