Halal Cart on N.W. Corner of 47th and 3rd.

This cart is horrible under-rated. It's changed hands a few times, but its present incarnation is pretty delicious and needs more recognition.

Throwing parsley, onion and vinegar, and olives over the usual iceberg and tomatoes adds a unique touch to this sea of combos over rice. And as their champion, I recommend you all to waddle over and grab a bite.

In fact, I am of the belief it's better than the cart on the SE corner of 46th and 3rd and the Kwik Meal on 45th and 3rd. Check it out.

I went to try out the cart today and was pleasantly surprised. I watched the vendor make sure to get a nice grilled char on the slices of gyro meat using a weight, always a huge plus. The salad was definitely done up way more than what you usually get. It especially went well with the rest of the platter when I mixed the salad with the rice and meat (I like a big mess of food on my plate that I can shovel down). It's great what a little bit of parsley and onion can do to up the flavor, not to mention the olives! The gyro meat tasted very good with the char and the chicken was good, not great. The rice was adequate, and though not very spicy, the red sauce had a good flavor. I definately enjoyed it more than alot of the entries from SMP; but in my mind it doesn't come close to the likes of XPL or 53rd & 6th (genuine or imposter). Thanks for the tip!

  2. Checked it out today. Good rice, the meat could have used more spice though.
