Gyro/Doner/Shwarma/Whatever.

adamprato

I like lamb gyro as much as anyone else here, but none of the halal carts I've been to can compare to the lamb I've had in the village.

Two places in particular, Bereket and Yatagan Kebab House around Houston St. Their lamb wasn't as much as a spicy lamb meatloaf and was more like a compressed slab of seasoned roast lamb, sliced off the spit like the typical Kronos Gyro.

Anyone know what I'm referring to? Is there anything in Midtown that resembles this?

i beleive that lamb your referring to is the shwarma?...kinda tastes like what i think lamb bacon would taste like...ive def seen it in midtown but never on a cart (due to its size)and dont recall anyone ever telling me it was good.

Yah. Lamb Bacon. There ya go. I think salt is about the only seasoning on it.

So maybe I have to hunt for lamb shwarma. I believe bereket/yatagan called it 'doner' though...

Anyone else out there know of a good place for lamb shwarma in upper midtown (I'm on 57th st), or midtown in general.
