Good question. Dont think there is though.
-
The Dragon is a good alternative to Carnegie John's if you have a long lunch break. However, there is Uncle Gussy's on 51 & Park.
-
D, I would go with Kwikmeal...it's not quite "greek" but it's definitely not your standard halal cart. They use real lamb, real tzatziki etc. 45th and 6th.
-
Thanks everyone I just bit the bullet and trained it to the Dragon. Where the F is Carnegie John?
-
Who cares? And is CJ really Greek?
I agree that Kwik Meal would be a better option.
-
yes, I always hear him speak Greek.
-
D requested no middle eastern spices though so Kwik Meal is probably out despite the delicious yogurt-based white sauce similar to tzatziki. But definitely a good option for street meats if you're more open to trying Halal.
-
I never found Kwik to be heavy on the "middle eastern" spices---I found it the closest to Greekish of all the carts--as that is what I prefer as well.
-
Yea, it's more indian actually - with their basmati rice and spicy green sauce (raita).
-
There's a Greek guy on the NE corner of Park and 52'nd or 53rd. You can tell he's Greek by looking at the cart.
-
I will have to go check that out. Thanks harry!
-
Harry, are you talking about Uncle Gussy's or is this another cart?
-
Hey! There's RudyMcBagelSteveP, keeping it real.
I'd say enough people care to keep bringing it up as a topic. But that doesn't seem to matter, does it, big guy?
And funny: Only one meatstick keeps using every related thread for a negative posting about this one vendor. Which crotchety, lonely, food blog obsessed whiner is that?

It looks like Carnegie John is still MIA and Tony Dragonas is a bit far for me. Does anyone know of a greek street meat spot where I can get my fix. Please no middle eastern carts the smell makes me sick.
