Sakagura for lunch -You must try their black sesame creme brulee! so good.
Cafe Zaiya.
Menchenko tei -
Oms B Rice Ball Cafe for just about everything that place has to offer.
Previti for an artichoke/spinach slice.
Mantao for the pork/shrimp dumplings. -
You're right -- Zaiya should be on the list -- it's one of my favorites, even if it hasn't been the same since Beard Papa left.
OMS/B is funny to me -- I've turned about a half-dozen coworkers onto the place and never been all that impressed myself.
As for Previti, I just read the review -- how have I not come across this place in the four months they've been open? Today might be a second-lunch day.

you sent your co-workers there but didnt really like it yourself?

Sakagura, Soba Toto, Tsushima, Donburiya, and my favorite new addiction OBao
-
Joy Curry, Aburiya Kinnosuke, Kushi Q, Menkui Tei. I sort of miss working in Midtown East.
-
OYes....OBao is addiction worthy

There's a strong asian influence here. I am going to add some variety. Sophie's, That Famous Chicken Place, Quick Delight Cart, Oyster Bar, 2nd Ave Deli, Five Guys, and Grill 44's dosa. However, I will have to second the Sakagura, Oms/b, and Donburiya. Also, when you do go out, go out big. Order like the biggest lunches so that you are sick of it. Like order two cubans and tostones from Sophies. Or like 9 sliders from Blarneys. Enjoy yourself.

i hate sophie's cubans. just my opinion.

This Friday marks my last day of work at the MetLife building before moving next week to a new job on Sixth Avenue.
If you were making the crosstown switch, what would you make sure to include in your last week of East Side lunches?
So far, the list includes XPL, Hop Won, and Blarney Stone. I was going to hit Bayan Cafe for the first time in a long time, but it looks like they've closed.
Any other thoughts?
