For those of us who DON'T live in Midtown (most of us)

Apikoros18

If you could bring one restaurant in to Mid Town from your area of residence, for yours and Zach's pleasure, what would it be?

I live in Forest Hills and I would bring Samarkand. We have a large Bukharian Community and a ton of Bukharian restaurants. Some are rather... intimidating. Samarkand is welcoming, still very ethnic, with the best ka-bobs you will ever have. The Ka-Bobs are by the piece, chicken, lamb, chicken wings, meat and liver... Also, they make these meat pies called Samsas.... To die for. A Samsa and 2 ka-bobs will run you $8.00 pre tax, well in our under $10.00 range

Fressa - Arzu is the scary place of which I speak. I checked the name last night. Very intimidating.

I think I shall start a Forest Hills thread..

    Il Bambino from Astoria...

Freshly pressed panini sandwiches with an array of delicious pork products. Mortadella, Speck, Soppressata, Prosciutto, Cacciatorini, Mmmmmmm.

Since it's already gone as far as Boston, not that I don't like Carl's Steaks or any of the other cheesesteak joints, but how about a real philly cheesesteak place operation like Steve's Prince of Steaks or Jim's Steaks. Haha.

Since I'm on the sandwich rampage, might as well throw out Cherry Valley Deli back into people's minds, as mentioned before by others. I've never been but my friend has so I didn't hear about this place from ML.

This should definitely be in Midtown since they serve a version of fat cat sandwiches and wide variety to choose from. I'd just hate to see Midtown pricing on their food though and I'd defintiely go here over any Lenny's.

  4. Not my neighborhood, but Pho Bang from Elmhurst. yumm....

  5. I grew up in Forest Hills (actually Kew Gardens) and always considered it a bit of a food wasteland. Are things really picking up?

I live in Astoria now, and I would bring Zorba's Souvlaki so I could actually get legit greek gyro and tzatziki. They also have a "panini" which is long slices of gyro meat with peppers and onions, french fries, cheese and tzatziki sauce sandwiched in between two pita halves and cooked in a panini press. Awesome.

  6. I live in Murray Hill... (But moving to UES in a couple of weeks).. so I'd have to say Baoguette definitely... Latin Thing... Emo Kimbab... (although I guess if Worijib is posted here.. so could Emo Kimbab)... ZiggiZ... if i could go even further down.. although not really my "hood"... sategaya... Ippudo...
