Food Abstinence

deanlo

Have you ever eaten anything that you enjoyed so much that you wanted to preserve your love and fondness of it by not eating it again for a long time? So that the next time you eat it, it would be like having it for the very first time? Like a slow tease, the anticipation just builds and builds to the point where it disappears... until one day you're suddenly reminded of it and BOOM -- MUST HAVE.

    Born-again food virgin? Hhhhmmmmm.
Most times, that first time can never be recreated or taken back. lol.

Maybe if people got brain-washed or totally forgotten what something tastes like. Then there might be a boom. Perhaps a favorite meal as a little kid that you no longer partake in...

    Doughnuts.

Although it's not about preserving my love, it's about preserving my health. If I didn't have a "no doughnut" rule (which only gets broken a few times a year), I would have died many many years ago.

    lol @ Zach.

Desserts... I don't eat them often and don't need to - I don't crave them much - but panna cotta... and I just learned how to make it this year, but I've resisted keeping all the ingredients at home... to keep it special and also to keep myself from getting sick of it.

Actually most food I really, really love, I don't partake in often. I don't think it's a conscious reason to keep it special, so to speak, but it happens that way. Most days I eat stuff I like but not stuff I am totally ga-ga over.

But you can get very good strawberries here!

I tend not to stop by Shake Shack (I live nearby and can avoid the lines) until I *really* want a solid burger.

I would also love to eat spaghetti carbonara/fettuccine alfredo almost every day, but like Zach with the donuts above, I would probably be dead if I had them every time the craving strikes. mmmmmm....

I think Dean meant Pho from Vietnam? Strawberries also?

My favorite foods are pizza and fries. I do my best to avoid ordering fries, especially at any fast food establishments, but not when it comes with a meal. My conscious avoiding is mroe for my health though, not to abstain and savor it later. I could eat Pizza everyday but I don't. I even ate cold pizza for breakfast back in the day. On a couple of fridays, after working out at the gym, I walked over to 2 bros for my dinner. Nothing beats spending less than 3 bucks for dinner. HAHA.
