Are any of these places still around?

(It's really gross so if you're about to eat from a salad bar/pay-by-the-pound lunch, probably not a good time to click over, but if you're eating from that, probably aren't reading this site over lunch anyway.)

the article is over 8 years old.

i think bloomberg gave one way plane tickets to all of the crazy homeless people so a lot are gone.

good thing i dont eat at salad bars anyway. after working in a supermarket in high school, i see what happens, gross.

    who's ready for lunch?

Yup, that's why I asked if those places were still around. 8 years is like, two lifetimes in generic deli lives, no?

try like 16 or 20 lifetimes. once the taxman comes around, they are gone.

  4. There is one place that I go to that has no sneeze guards...it's cheap and you have to bend over, but the food is pretty worth it.

Though...I've never seen anyone actually sneeze into the food. If anything, what still disgusts me there are people who still dont' wash their hands after using the bathroom, touch the servingware and then the handles are all in the food.

    Now that's nasty.

This is my only issue with Cafe Zaiya. All those delicate goodies with no protection.

I don't think it's just about sneezing because you'd have to be a real a-hole and/or oblivious to sneeze into a big pile of food. It's more like the same concept of why you don't pass things over your plate of food - debris.

If you lean over an open counter of food, you are breathing and who knows what loose crap might fall from your face, mouth, nose, hair. It happens and you're not being a jerk, there's just nothing preventing you from leaning over the food.
