Someone posted this link eons ago in the forums in response to my question about Midtown public atriums - indoor spaces open to the public usually with controlled climate and seats/tables.
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/html/priv/priv.shtmlHope that helps!

There's a public space between 6th and 7th avenue and between 49th and 50th st's.
I only felt compelled to mention since you specifically said 50th and 6th, and it's like, you just needed to walk a half a block to realize :)
In fact a lot of blocks have similar spaces.
- Between 54th/55th & 6th/7th
- Between 48th/49th & 6th/7th
- Between 45th/46th & 5th/6th
- Between 5th & 6th on 58th (behind the Solow building)Those spring immediately to mind.
Those are the ones that spring immediately to mind

The deathly cold of winter looms near and I want to be able to enjoy my lunch outside while the weather is still manageable but need places to go. There's obviously Bryant Park but any places near 50th and 6th? Or that area in general.
Yes there's benches everywhere but ideally there's some place indoor or out with chairs AND tables where we can have a platter of street meat without reeking up the office or spilling white sauce on my slacks.
Help!
