Dominos: A blasphemous chain forum topic....

Goats

Ok, I have been watching the commercials for 2 weeks, and I am tempted, since I'm a fool. Has anyone tried the "new" dominos pizza? Is it a total farce, or is there improvement? I am not a fan of "old" dominos or papa johns, which I've recently tried. But I am also sick of my pizza delivery options down here (28th and Madison), as Pizza 33 and Vezzo is too expensive for a pie, Bravo is merely ok, and expensive, and Bella Napoli is gross--at least for delivery--and did I mention too expensive? Obviously, dominos is a "cheap" delivery option, but I am wondering whether to waste the money and time on ordering the "new" dominos? Is it at all edible? Is there really any improvement? Anyone?

I just like how the papa johns ads are all over this entry...at least for now. haha.

Dominos is merely okay/ nothing special as a cheap option. And it did use to taste like cardboard. The brooklyn style is edible but if you want better, you will just have to fork over the dough of course.

Was domino's the chain that had a "brooklyn crust" pizza? Now that was just silly. Sorry Goats can't help you out there.

I've had patsy's steve. It's ok, but the brooklyn one is better, though Vezzo rivals it imo. Also, PRICEY! When pizza and maybe a side of garlic knots cost me 30 bucks plus with tip, it's not right! I want to pay 20--with tip! Like the good old days! LOL

Goats, I think you might be mistaken. Patsy's in brooklyn is now known as only Grimaldi's after a long dispute. If you like a good Italian meal, you need to check out the original Patsy's up on 119th and 1st. Their pasta alla vodka is amazing. Their pizza is like 12 dollars too. I used to live up there and definitely took it for granted. So after fencing I usually have to grab a pie with my sister. After eating good New York pizza for so many years, I don't think I could ever go back to Domino's or Pappa John's no matter how much they say they have improved.

Those commercials give me the giggles... "Tastes like cardboard" is a favorite criticism of mine, of their pizza. I'll be trying it in the coming weeks though (BF REALLY wants to try it because he HATES Domino's) so will let you know.

PS BTW, did you know you can get blacklisted from Domino's delivery? True story. A friend of mine got blacklisted.

My friend reviewed it... She basically said it was better but if you're in NYC, support the mom and pop shops.

Blacklisted by Dominos? That's crazy. WOnder how it went down...

I did forgot to tip them once (they charge you delivery fee anyway) and just stopped ordering from them for a while. LOL.

didnt anybody go to college?!?!...dominos will always hold a dear spot in my euphoric heart.

Samwich, im with you. as many pizza shops in nyc there are that would kill dominos in a competition, i do order it from time to time and enjoy it. does noone but me love their cheesy bread?
