Delivery Week - Good deal or total ripoff?

hightemp

I was going to order "Delivery Week" for lunch today but perusing the options in my neighborhood I opted against it. Seems a lot of places are switching out "dessert" with "beverage". And in one instance <<cough>> pop burger <<cough>> the savings add up to a grand total of .... wait for it... 41 cents.

Anyone tried delivery week yet? Any good deals to be had or things worth trying?

I was thinking about it, but including tip and tax it could be over $15 for lunch. But having Molyvos delivered is very tempting.

I'm most tempted by Molyvos. Oh, Molyvos, I do love you. But, then I remember while it's a good deal for what it is, unless I'm eating out for business I would never spend over $15 on my lunch. I generally don't spend over $5. Still Molyvos...

i usually dont order 3 course meals as take out, so i doubt i will take advantage of this "deal."

My office ordered from Havana Central yesterday, and it was a ton of food for $15 each incl. tax + tip, 2-3 days worth (I am a little girl but a big eater). Sadly the food was nothing special. We tried to order from Molyvos but they didn't have the link up for the $12.09 deal on seamlessweb yet! Later this week maybe.

And I hate it that some restaurants are cheaping out and offering coke as the "dessert" option.

    nothing around 34th st....

  6. I ordered from Dhaba last night and got the Shrimp Malaicurry and the Chicken Loolipops. Now Dhaba is usually one of the best Indian restaurants in the city right now depending on what you order. The palaks/saags and tikka masalas are great and the only place in the city to finally offer actual roomali rotis. They may possibly have the best version of those classic Punjabi dishes in NYC. However, last night as far as the food was concerned was just okay. The chicken lollipop would have probably been great eaten hot and fresh. The shrimp malaicurry was watered down but flavorful. The problem it seems to me is that they are getting an unprecedented number of orders due to this "deal" seeing that my delivery person was carrying 2 other orders when he delivered mine.

All of that would have been fine with me except that the food woke me up several times at night and sent me running to the bathroom. I suspect some food safety precautions were more difficult to properly implement with the influx of orders. I would wait it out and avoid ordering from delivery week restaurants until midweek when everyone figures out what a waste of time it is. That having been said I just rolled the dice again with Namado 33 tonight. I really hope I don't get sick again because I really need my sleep back.

I ordered from Mama Mexico today since I've never had their food before and wanted to try delivery week instead of my usual street faire. The $5 coupon from seamless didn't hurt either.

For 10.16 (tax + tip included but after $5 discount), I got Chicken Wings Al Pastor, Chimichangas de Pollo O Carne and Dulce de la Mama for dessert.

What a buttload of food I got. 5 saucy wings as apptzs, 2 chimichangas - chicken and beef - served with refied beans and rice, and piece of cake slathered in creme. The wings are standard, chimichangas are both okay since soggy but clearly should be eaten as sit-down since they're fried (still enjoyed them), and cake looks alright (didn't eat it yet - too stuffed!!!)

I'm pretty sure I got a good deal for my lunch. Their prices are kinda up there.
