Daisy May's Bowl of Texas Red is extremely confusing.

That is my go-to dish at the Daisy May cart and I can tell you it is very consistent, so unlikely you got a fluke. At $1 less than everything else the cart offers, it is also a relative bargain. You can ask for extra hot sauce and the guy who runs the cart (Yamil is his name, I think) will give you a little plastic cup of thick, bright red sauce. My standard move is to pack the tortilla with the sour cream, onions and cheese provided as well as the $1 container of rice and beans and several chunks of the chili meat. This makes for a satisfying burrito and leaves about half a bown of chili to enjoy by itself.

Would you ever describe this as deathly salty? Or terribly sweet? I sort of feel like it was both the other day. I'd really like to go back and try it again, but it's totally possible that I'm just not a fan of the style.
I was so pleased with all the goodies you get with it, because most places won't do that, especially to go, but ended up only being able to eat a few bites of it.

It is definitely a salt-bomb. I'm not somebody who is great at describing flavors, but I wouldn't call it sweet--certainly not in the way that a mass-marketed BBQ sauce is sweet. You might think about adding rice to cut the intensity a bit.

I would compare it to bbq sauce with beef chunks not really chilli and like wade said the rice does help a bit.

Just made my way down to the Daisy May's cart for the first time to pick up a bowl of Texas red. Has anyone ever had this salt bomb? Actually, maybe it's a sugar bomb. I can't quite tell. There is something extremely perplexing about the flavor.
Is this normal? Or a fluke. I will admit to being very pleased by the presence of some actual red chile seeds in here.
