but it's so farm fresh! they also have the best chocolate milk, they get it from their chocolate cows no joke!

my friend's dad throws out some pieces of raw chicken and then nabs several pounds of dungeness from the hudson/sheepshead bay depending on their mood. he steams them in old bay seasoning and we just nosh all night, free of charge.
-
oops they're not dungeness. they're blue crabs
-
I don't know what he did with them, but my uncle caught 47 in an afternoon down at the shore. Woo cholesterol.

The crabs are really jumping at this time. Jamaica Bay ... I just look out and I see a lot of them (bf lives on the water). I think because the past few years there have been so few that people gave up so they started spawning like mad.

yonkers... is difficult to get to.. I'll definitely try it if I get the chance... but anywhere else?
-
also.. i'm not a great cook (although I don't know how much skill is involved in making lobster/crab), so a restaurant would be nice...
-
You don't need to cook the crab---it comes cooked. As I've learned on Deadliest Catch, once they drop off the crab at the fishery, it gets processed and cooked, then shipped all around the world...
Lobster is easy to cook--see my post above.
"...I don't have a designated lobster pot, so I cooked each one individually in a big iron pot. It's so easy---I'd never done it before. Just boil salt water, drop in live lobster, bring water back to boil, keep covered for 10 minutes. Just remember to get a cracker---I forgot and wound up using my wooden mallet!"

Lobster was $5.99 last night when I dropped by. FYI. I'll let you guys know if it ever drops to $3.99 again since I drop by there from time to time to pick-up fruits and what not.
-
That should be $5.99/lb.

so... from the Fatty Crab discussion from the "What are you picky on?" thread.. I was wondering where everyone goes if they want crab... I love crab... and I hate to admit that I don't have a single place i go when I feel like crab... (sometimes i go to Todai ... or whatever the new name is... )..
This is for anywhere in Manhattan (or easily accessible from Manhattan)
